LOL instead of stars spinning around his head it's gonna be a bunch of dollar signs.

>Already on the plane
>Somebody else needs your seat (wtf?)
>Forcefully removed from the seat you reserved

Bold strategy by United, lets see if it pays off for them.

It is nearly impossible to sue airlines though. I wouldnt be surprised in their Rules and regulations that you check off to agree to to buy the tickets, it says somewhere in tiny font, something like, "If we overbook, and cant find volunteers, we will ask you to get off the plane and you will volunteerly do that, with no problem".

Watch this guy get banned from UA for not following their rules. He got screwed over though.

either there's more to this story or United doesn't understand what "volunteer" means

Doesn't matter what their "rules and regulations" state, there's no way being physically assaulted as you're forced from the seat you for paid will hold up in court.

Step 1: jury full of old people and women
Step 2: video being thrown down and drug off for no reason
Step 3: ??????

If they overbook and no one accepts the offer they should be required to up the offer until someone does accept it.

I guarantee if they got the offer up to $4000 somebody would have taken it.
Throwing somebody off because a computer randomly picked them is BS.

The airline f'ed up and overbooked. They should be the ones taking the hit for it, not a random customer of theirs.

Doubtfull. The federal law is the minimum rights a person have, companies can't just go ahead and give them less rights just because they bought their service
