damn. i'm not sure how i would have handled this. just leave and take the $800 or stay and fight a losing battle with security.

"doctor" paid for the seat
they let me him on
airline says they need to kick off some customers so they can get other people on, offers $800.
when no one volunteers, the doc "randomly chosen via a computer"
doc refuses to leave and get KTFO by security and armrest

I honestly wouldn't either. If they're doing this to a law abiding citizen then what would they do to an aggressor? You have no rights when dealing with "security" and they will probably do everything in their power to fuk your life by arresting you (possibly getting a criminal record), kicked off the flight, no flight list, unnecessary bureaucracy ect ect they have too much power. Taking out your cellphone was probably the best thing to do here. It exposed them for the world to see which will hurt the company as a whole

In Aus, you have more rights than seccies. In fact they wouldn't even be able to remove you off the plane, they would have to get the AFP and have them get you off.

Eh? I've never heard of an airline kicking off passengers for crew. Generally crew can fly in the jump seat if it's available, or if there are free seats. But to kick off a passenger for a commuter crew? That's messed up.

I feel like there's got to be more to this story.
