Story about the day Samsbolton took his boat out for a fishing trip..

Is the south coast really that bad? I have been to Cornwall a few times, not much happening it seems but at least it was comfy.

Having been to Luton I think it's safe to say that not everywhere in the commuter belt shares in London's inherent superiority. Home counties and Surrey are very nice though.

Plenty of places in the South East (Forest Hill, Sydenham, Crystal Palace, Greenwich (seriously, Greenwich is fantastic), Docklands) which chit on South West all day and offer far more bang for your renting buck. Thats not even including North London either.
Looking at Greenwich for when I move back but it looks $$.

There are a lot of things to do in London, but it is a characterless mess. I breathe a breath of fresh air when I drive out of London and back into the South of England's most easterly county aka.. Buckinghamshire.... and then carry on driving West deeper into the heart of England. Oxfordshire, West Berkshire (only west because fuk reading,pretty much an extension of London), Hampshire, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire (bar Gloucester, that's a chithole), Somerset, Devon and Cornwall. All fairly decent places.
Even parts of Herefordshire are okay... and Worcestershire, and Warwickshire that are not too close to Birmingham.


And then South Wales is all chit West of Monmouth until you get past Swansea and into the Mumbles... then from Mumbles all the way to the very West of Pembrokeshire is nice.

Cambridgeshire, some parts of Kent (dover is a chithole), some parts of Surrey, and some part of Hertfordshire are nice too.
are nice places too.
Essex is full of annoying plebs; Norfolk and Suffolk are boring are fairly chit.

Pretty much summed up the whole of the South of England and Wales right there. ^
This is the truth. Deal with it. There is a reason everyone gets the fuk out of London once they retire. Some nice areas in London, but most of it is an absolute state.
Pretty accurate tbh. Haven't been to the north in a while. Cambridge is really nice. Peterborough is a chit hole. South west is probably the best part of England. I do love visiting London though. The best part of Norfolk is the coast.
