Don't know if it's true, but I believe it.

I knew we'd likely see an ND from one of our own while there. The only time our weapons were cleared was when cleaning them and we carried them everywhere. It's only a matter of time of having loaded weapons on you at all times with so little sleep that the chance of one happening increases. I never heard of any other NDs in our company besides those two I described, and certainly never heard of a count or anything like that from others lol.

It was pointed down range so no harm, but, ****, yah?

I went to the range for the first time in 8 years a few days ago.
I shot three "clips" into the target posted below, it appears I was able to hit the target 33/45 times, I think I did pretty well for my first time.

Now, how can I tighten my everything a bit?
Also, what's a good, but cheap self defense round?

When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

I was working in downtown Atlanta, had an apartment in an upscale area nearby slightly north of downtown. I have posted pics before of my custom left handed Weatherby Mark V 7mm Weatherby Magnum that my dad (also left handed) gave to me when I was about 16. For some reason I was keeping it under my bed, loaded with factory 160 grain Nosler @ 3200 fps and 3700 ft lbs. You wouldn't want to catch one of those.
A complete stranger, not a family member and definitely not me (srs) one day was at the apartment (he was allowed there) and discovered the Weatherby. He pointed it out of my bedroom window toward the tennis court where people were playing tennis at the time. He pulled the trigger, it went off, shattered the bedroom window, and took a huge chunk out of the tennis court within feet of one of the people playing.
I came home from work to a dozen Atlanta PD cop cars all over the place, having no idea what was going on. I got the message from the guy about what happened. As soon as the shot went off he knocked the glass out of the window, bagged it up, took the screen out, hid the gun, and took off. The window was somewhat protected by shrubs.
The tennis players were freaking out as well as the residents. How the fuk they didn't find my empty window overlooking the tennis court I have no idea. He did a good job of covering it up. News was playing it as a random sniper attempt that night.*
*this is a completely hypothetical story made up for entertainment purposes only and never happened.

Do some dry fire exercises at home.

Now, how can I tighten my everything a bit?
Also, what's a good, but cheap self defense round?[/QUOTE]Start by opening your eyes.
Hard to say without knowing how far away, but I'd say you are probably trying to shoot too fast and not taking your time . . . also quite possibly grip issues, jerking the trigger, etc. As others have said, start at the basics. Do some dry firing. When you shoot at the range, take your time. Line up your sights to the target, slow squeeze of the trigger (it's not a pull), then take your time with the next shot. And the next shot.
Also . . . what kind of gun? If it's a semi-auto . . . what kind of grip. Two thumbs forward is a popular, very good grip if you are not using that. Plenty of YT vids on how to do it.

That's hands down the best ND story I've ever heard. Sounds like it's straight out of a comedy. For some reason I can see a Ben Stiller type character checking out the sick rifle, ND'ing it, and covering it up like a pro. llollll

OK I got a ND story.
When I was 16 hanging out at my buddy's deer camp there were four of us. One of the guys had a 300 Savage that had this stupid mag counter gizmo built-in to tell you how many rounds were in the mag. We'd all got back from blasting something, don't remember, and we unloaded. I noticed he stopped at I think 4 rounds but should have been 5 and call him out. He replies no it's on 0. 10 minutes of arguing over the meaning of 0 and trying to explain that it's a magazine counter and doesn't know about the chamber one of the other guys got fed up and yells WELL PULL THE TRIGGER AND FIND OUT.

Not nearly as good as Duals, but my little cousin (18 at the time) shot a hole in the roof of my parents house years ago.
He was in my room alone.
I always kept my old 20g loaded with safety on because my parents essentially live in the middle of the fuking woods and the 20g was handy for snakes.
Apparently he decided to pick it up and mess with it (he literally had zero firearms experience at that time).
My parents hear the gun go off and run into my room.
He's standing there white as a ghost and literally shaking.
He shot a hole about the size of a 50 cent piece through my parents roof claiming he dropped it and it just went off.
Dad wasn't too happy about having to replace shingles and chit...
Fortunately he shot in a direction where there's nothing but woods for miles.

Thinking I should have gotten more hollow points to practice with. I have a lot of practice to do with just aiming and shooting non-HP ammo, but obviously I should practice and get used to shooting the ammo I'd want to protect myself with more.

I've never ND'ed before but my Dad did when I was less then a year old. My parents were throwing a party and my Dad ended up showing a few guys his M1 garand and somehow he managed to ND it straight up through the ceiling/roof. Didn't check the chamber before "dry firing". Apparently it kinda killed the mood at the party, guess an M1 going off indoors will do that lmao.

When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

Expensive though.
So far I've never had an ND, I've been around other people who have had them though. My cousin had one with my dad's .357 Magnum 686, scared the **** out of me. He shot the ground about a foot from my feet.
Best one I ever saw in the military was a 1LT going into the chow hall on the FOB in Iraq, stops at the clearing barrel, doesn't drop the mag but points his M9 into the barrel, racks the slide, pulls the trigger, BANG! Everyone jumps and turns to look at him, he looks bewildered, quickly racks the slide again, pulls the trigger, BANG! An E6 grabbed him before he could try to repeat the process for a third time lol

Thinking about upgrading my EDC here, i usually carry my shield .40 with an extra mag because its so light n comfy but thanks to liberal CA just letting criminals go there has been a ton of robberies around my area. I have a p320 9mm with more ammo capacity or a glock 30 that takes a 13 round glock 21 mag.

Any good deals on cheap brass 9mm? Need some decent plinking ammo.
