Its clear to me who doesnt really watch football much when they say **** like Ronaldo is better than Messi lol. Having watched both player's careers, its clear to anyone that Messi is on a different level than Ronaldo. Ronaldo is a legend but there are at least 10 players id say were better than him.
"The flowers bloom, then wither... The stars shine and one day become extinct. This earth, the sun, the galaxies and even the big universe, someday will be destroyed. Compared with that, the human life is only a blink, just a little time. In that short time - people are born, laugh, cry, fight, are injured, feel joy, sadness, hate someone, love someone. All in just a moment. And then, are embraced by the eternal sleep called death."

Overrated, todays players on a different level. Cant even compare lol.

Pele would be 2nd League player nowadays.

Messi single-handedly took Argentina to the 2014 WC final; and played a huge role in them reaching the finals of the 2015 and 2016 Copa America. They just lacked the fortune needed to win; which Portugal had when they won Euro 2016 [albeit in the exact same way a piss-poor Greece side did in 2004].
Pretty much this. Messi is a machine, and doesn't have to do any fancy chit to get past defenders like CR7. I've never seen someone dribble a football like Messi can.

Did Messi get a single goal or assist in the quarters, semi, or final of the 2014 world cup?

Really did not do that much outside of the group stages. Worst golden ball decision ever.

Admittedly Ronaldo has rarely impressed when playing for Portugal.

haha nice try OP. He aint even top 5 and will never be better than Messi.

lol at 10/10 performance. 2 offside goals in extra time and his own fans were jeering/booing him during the game for not tracking players back leaving other madrid players having to cover for him.

Cr7 and messi being top two is not even up for debate, they are far and away the two best ever

Between these two its close but you have to give it to Ronaldo, he's dominated in two leagues rather than just one team, performed far better at international level and generally played on worse teams. Notice how barca have dropped off big time since xavi moved on, the combination of him and iniesta was the best midfield of all time

Like when argentina got to the world cup final but messi did not get a goal or assist throughout the whole knockout stage?

Clearly playing in front of busquets, xavi, iniesta is far better than some combination of an aging kaka, ozil, modric, kroos, isco etc etc

U FOKIN W()T

Ronaldo carried a bunch of farmers to a European cup final, and then MANAGES his team to victory despite stretchered off.

Messi missed a penalty in the Copa America, cried and said he would retire. HAHAHAHAHA

Also, 74 of Messi's goals have been penalties. Not that much less than GOATnaldo

He is good but let's not act as if he wasen't replacable yesterday. None of those goals were amazing (not to mention offside). In fact, a majority of the time his team, which is probably 1 of the best teams around, and the referee will do all the work. He is just the guy that gives the ball 1 last tick and takes all the credit. Let's just forget about all those other players shall we?

Football is a team sport. He would've never ever EVER have scored so many times if he wasen't playing with Real Madrid for the majority of his life.

Your'e just looking at stats. Soccer goes way beyond that. If goal scoring stats made you the best Gerd Muller would be considered better than Cruyff and Maradona, but guess what, he's not.

messi in his prime was to me a better player than ronaldo.. but messi was not even the best player on his team in the wc, much less golden ball (basically a consolation prize for missing out lol) - mascherano was the one who carried his team in 2014

Ballon D'or in the last 8 years was a joke and golden ball decision in 2014 was an absolute shocker. Messi never deserved some of the Ballon D'or except when he won the treble and reached the highest goal scorer in one season, and that's it. Ballon D'or nowadays is all about goals and not the skills or contributing the team like before 2008. What about Wesley Sneijder when he won every major cup for his club (Inter Milan) and carried Netherlands to the World Cup final in the same year? Totally forgotten and Messi took it. What about Frank Ribery when he also won every major tournament and carried Bayern Munich to the Champions League finals? Totally forgotten and so on.

Argentina carried the team, not Messi. I remembered Javier Mascherano carried Argentina for the whole time in both WC and Copa and was a like a brick in defense I barely remembered Messi playing the same style as he does in Barcelona, the defenders usually treat him like a rat in internationals and doesn't take it lightly like those La Liga defenders.

I don't blame Ronaldo in Portugal, look at the way he played during the glory days of Portugal when Figo, Deco, Mendes, Sabrosa and top tier players was around etc and today when there are no top tier defenders, midfielders or forward. Argentina on the other hand have Di Maria, Aguero, Higuain, Mascherano, Zanetti, Tevez, Dybala, Zabaleta, Pastore and they have always had top tier players from the beginning, Portugal doesn't.
