Pele would be average at best in todays game. the game back then was completely different, players smoking and drinking on the bench, never training, getting by on talent alone. He was the best at that time but the players today are way better. Thats why Messi/Ronaldo are the best to ever play.

100% agreed just like every sport has improved since last century so does the level of skill necessary to compete. Pele was incedible however that was in an age where tactics, the ability to analyse your opponents players was invariably different to today where a team can simulate their games

Messi single-handedly took Argentina to the 2014 WC final; and played a huge role in them reaching the finals of the 2015 and 2016 Copa America. They just lacked the fortune needed to win; which Portugal had when they won Euro 2016 [albeit in the exact same way a piss-poor Greece side did in 2004].
