It's very high, in my opinion. As I said, I don't stunt, use my signals, watch for big ticket items in the road and try to keep a safe distance from vehicles that may be doing the wrong things. Texting, hard swerving, weaving in and out of lanes for no reason, things like that. I don't know everything, but I know enough that has kept me safe these last 4 years.

I've been riding for 4 years. I rode a few dirt bikes as a kid, so I already knew how to use the gears, clutch and all that jazz. Fully licensed, did the training class and got the "M" endorsement on my license. My wife does too. We did our classes together and I showed her how to ride.

No advanced training. The last time we looked into that, we couldn't get in the class. The Highway Patrol offered it, but it filled before we could get in.

Yes, if I was in the middle lane or right lane. Whatever it was, I didn't even see it. You try to watch as much of the road as you can while keeping your eyes in front of you, but you can't see everything. Just this one time, it caught my tire and that's all she wrote.

No, don't think so....I wasn't speeding and I've taken curves like that before and on that same highway, so I was just taking what seemed to be a normal type ride in my opinion. Even if I gave it more throttle as I veered left, I think it would've done more damage because I would've just been on the divider faster. That gravel, I'm already losing it, more throttle....that may have killed me.

glad you made it out of that one. and it had to be especially scary for you because it wasnt another driver that did it. it was random debris on the road. fccckkkkk

maaaaan i used to wrestle with the idea of riding, but said fck it. one day i will just have a fun car. perhaps not as exhilarating, but it's more my speed

thank god for that gear. makes you want to look at the scratches on that helmet and hug the MFer.

I recently sold my Dirt bike, thing has put a lot of damage to my body, things I'll be feeling for life! I miss riding sometimes but other sports keep me busy now.

Not worth it IMO.

Sold mine 2 months ago, I was nearly involved in 4 5 close death encounters last season, no more risks for me.. even though it was generally a real hobby to me

Glad you're alright OP

I was on the ambulance yesterday. Picked up someone in a motorcycle accident. He was wearing a helmet so he was alright, just a broken hand and got KO'd for about 2-3 minutes. Looking at the scrapes on his helmet (and yours), can you imagine if you weren't wearing that? Goodbye brain. Had the whole trauma team activate and everything for it in the hospital. **** is no joke.

Get back to 100% and appreciate all the little things brother. Stay safe.

Dirtbikes bro, they're a ton of fun and with the comparatively low speeds and lack of cars piloted by drugged up/mentally unstable/distracted fukheads and metal cheese grater guardrails waiting to cut you into pieces they're a lot safer. Sure you can still smash into a tree and fuk yourself up but tree's don't turn into you and are a lot smaller then a car.

I only ride a maxi-scooter. A BMW C650GT.

It's the only bike that feels like a car. They're a little safer I think, no shifting required.

Glad you're okay man. Thats some scary chit. Why ride in the middle lane though? It's the worst place for a bike to be. You get double the blind spots, you cannot protect your lane from both sides. Riding in the center of the lane is even worse. Should be in the right lane in the left tire track or the left lane in the right tire track to establish your position.

Glad you're safe mens. Makes me scared to ride, but it's enjoyable. Also props for not being the typical bike goon in shorts and a beater or no helmet. That **** saved you from being mummy wrapped and I'm glad you respect the road enough to be smart about it.

Glad you're okay brah. I sold by bike just to get back into school but as the months passed, i realized how lucky i got with all those near fatal accidents and decided I would never get a bike for the street again. Well a sport bike. Cruisers look like fun but still, just the idea that my luck will run out has me iffy about it. I wouldn't mind strictly tracking a bike though.

I had a 300, not the best highway bike because of how light they are. Also no steering dampener.

Always wanted to ride a motorbik. Stories like this always deter me from starting though. Pretty much every rider I know has a story like this or I hear about people losing their lives on one. Really too bad, it looks like a lot of fun to ride. I saw some recommendations of dirt bikes... might be a good alternative, least you don't have to worry about other people's mistakes.

I was driving my car one day listening to the radio and thinking that I should get a bike when a news story came on about someone losing his legs in a bike accident. I took that as a sign. Glad you're ok

Glad your okay. I'm selling my bike in the next month or so, too many moment of being almost killed by other drivers. It's not a variable I can control so I have to get rid of it before one of them succeeds

Glad you're safe, brah. You'll get back into it. Every time I have to put the bike to sleep for the winter, once spring rolls around, I can't wait to jump back on.

But that's some scary chit. I'd probably take some time off after that accident. Good thing those 300s aren't too expensive. It won't hurt too bad to total it.
