80% of Expert CFA Wall Street Active Fund Managers can't beat the S&P500 over the long haul and you think you can?

Only time will tell. But I am very patiently selective, and hence why I only pick winners.

I have been following certain stocks for around 6 months to 1 year before getting in

You can get 2.2% on a risk, tax-free ISA with that sum.

You must actually be autistic to think you are genuinely qualified based on those trades to build a long term successful portfolio. I've seen some extremely smart people get burnt like that.

Do both of you a favour and leave this to the professionals.

I actually think the stat is 100% can't beat the 500. Some can for a few years but eventually it evens out and they end up not really doing better.

Do you know why Olympians wins gold medals?

Do you know why diabetes has never stopped certain athletes?

Did you know there was a famous British rower called Sir Steve Redgrave who might have fainted after a race... but he would make sure he secured the gold medal first!

Do you know why Mayweather beat all of his opponents despite not having a Harvard education?

Simple response to all of them:

Going out there and winning is what makes you a champion.

Also, what do you think about spread betting (leveraged trading) - I use IG but am too chicken $hit to use real money.

Oh? Because I've been a member of a big, advanced investment forum for like 8 years and a huge investor myself.

Tell me how I'm wrong? (I don't mean that in a combative way but if you think you know something I don't, teach me)

The going theory from my understanding is there are a few rare companies that actually can beat the spider, but just barely better and it's a rare few. Then when they do, the fees they charge are often bigger than the gain you'd actually get in return, so it's better to just invest in "the market" with something with an extremely low expense ratio.

I've been studying for 8 years now (not intensely) but go ahead and fill me in.

lol @ what a ******* op is.

So tell us again you little *******, what happens when you lose his money in gambling? Oh, that's right. Not to worry, because you said you'll just cover it with your own money to "guarantee" him his 5% return. I'm sure he's in good hands.

Don't listen to that clown. He enters investment threads like a know-it-all and ends up embarrassing himself.

Hey ctownballer04, I'm waiting for you to explain how my fund investments with ER of 0.05% and high tax efficiency are a bad idea.

I would definitely recommend gradually adding spread betting, but certainly wouldn't open with it.

It's a very high risk, high reward strategy therefore should only be used when you are absolutely sure (or very very quite sure) of a market movement.

For example, I could have used it fantastically at EZJ ex-div and by now I would have had 250x initial stake!

But had the stock crashed, it could have gone the other way and I could have lost big too.

The "don't invest more than you can afford to lose" applies even more to spread betting. Because you can lose way more than initial stake

I took a class on people like OP.

LOL at thinking some people are "skilled at picking stocks". No one is skilled, and all of it is a crapshoot. Sure, you might be lucky now. Or for a year. Or for 5 years. But over the long term, you will regress to the mean. Hard.

There is no way to effectively pick stocks. Previous performance is not indicative of future performance. Tempted to neg OP for getting me so horny about this.

Do you know that's exactly what they said to Floyd Mayweather?

49-0 later they ate their words and said you champ, really were the king. You really are the best P4P. You, Sir, really did fight Manny, Golden Boy, etc and didn't fear anybody.

I can feel OP's passion, but at the same time i get the feeling he is young and biting off more than he can chew. If he goes bust, it will be a good learning point. One day OP may exceed.
