I hit a 98 Dodge Stratus head on @48mph riding my 85 Kawasaki 440 Ltd in 2000.

I used to ride everyday and fell in love with it. But I had 2 major accidents in my first year, 2nd year I had one small one but after a while I slowly stop riding because I love my body.

Was t-boned by by a early 90s Thunderbird going 45+mph. Fuarked my leg up pretty bad but made a 100% recovery.

Still ride, but I mostly keep it on the track now.

Still ride my 1992 xr250 to work about 1x per week, but deer and elk are a bigger hazard than other drivers during my commute. Huge risk but there is nothing like that freedom when the throttle opens up.

i took one of those motorcycle safety classes where you spend hours in the classroom and a few hours on a bike. the instructors had stories for almost every situation and it seems like even the best riders can get completely fuked thanks to other drivers or other external forces. i ultimately decided not to get a bike

if you do decide to get one, i highly recommend the safety classes

I've seen a lot of people killed in MC crashes and ton's of people crippled/seriously injured. I'm still going to get one though. From what I've seen the majority of fatalities and crashes are crotch rockets. And the majority of the time the rider is going too fast for the location. Even if another driver is partially at fault (Turning in-front or pulling out of a drive-way) they almost always didn't see the bike because it was traveling 20MPH+ over the speed limit.


I like the idea of getting a cruiser or touring bike and riding coastal roads and/or going on a relaxed drive. All the high speed stuff doesn't appeal to me just because I've seen so many people get jacked up.

The 'best' riders are usually the one's who get killed. And its because they are pushing their limit and they find it. There is a reason why you hear about a ton of people getting killed/injured on a crotch rocket but never hear about people getting killed/injured on a moped.


For the most part if you do the speed limit and don't drive aggressively your not likely to crash or get hurt. Of course nobody wants to do 35-45mph on a sport bike.

That's because every one that rides a motorcycle DOES get into at least 1 accident. It's inevitable, it will happen, big or small. That's a fact pretty well known by the motorcycle community.

If you're wearing full gear you'll be able to get through a pretty big crash with hardly a scratch. That means pants, jacket, helmet, gloves and maybe boots.

Been riding for 8 years off and on. Got s cafe racer , one of best looking bikes you'll ever see(srs).

Ride locally, get ice cream with gf, ride to local brewery for a beer and a burger 2 miles away and come home. Used to ride a lot and all night couple years ago but idk.. don't trust people on the road.

I'll never sell my bike, but my riding def has become less and less

Been riding a little longer but yea, I feel the same way as that.

Accidents can happen to anyone, but I have gotten into 2 major ones.

Most people always have some story about how they used to ride or are going to buy a bike. I tell everybody dont get one, because the people who really want a motorcycle will get one anyway.

Yeah, but there are still a lot of people that ride "safely" that get in accidents. I'm not trying to discourage anyone from getting one, it's just that random accidents that normally fuk up a car can seriously injure a person riding a bike.

I know around ten 40+ year olds that ride motorcycles without an issues, but I also know 6 guys from high school that got crotch rockets after graduating and all sold them within two years because of crashes. So I'm going to agree with it depends on how and where you drive.

With how stupid drivers are now, texting and driving/distracted drivng at an all time high, FUK THAT. I have near misses almost every day im on the road in my car. No way im going through that on a bike.
