the homeless are scum. I don't give them anything. Most people have no idea that the homeless actually LOL @ them.

Anyone who tries to talk to me at a gas station, I almost assume they want money. Today, someone at the gas station only asked how you pay for gas. I thought they were gonna ask for money, but they had a Benz so I was relieved.

I once gave this lady 2 Dr Peppers when she started asking for money. She didn't seem satisfied, but she still took my Dr Peppers. And seriously, I went to the cheapest gas station in the area, why not go beg at something more expensive, ppl there may be willing to give you money.

Buying them food is the only approved version. It will weed most of the fake one.

Asking a homeless person what they've done to improve their condition is retarded. A lot of them are addicts. I'm not personally against recreational use of any drug, but I'm not about to give a possible addict cash to feed their addiction. Another possibility is that they're mentally ill.

Mental healthcare in this country is in shambles. On one hand we diagnose everyone with anxiety and push worthless pills, on the other hand the people who need the most help, i.e. addicts (yes many cases is a mental illness), schizos, bipolars, people with dementia, etc. are living on the streets. Many of them are actually happier than living in the same place. Many of these conditions compel people to be wanderers. Giving money to these people will not solve anything.

Just got to the next block and buy them some food.

I agree with the mental health statement. We don't take it seriously at all, and it makes no sense to me as to why not. A messed up brain can cause a lot of chaos in a person.

Because mental health care facilities cannot be privatized as easily as prisons. It's the same reason we have a lot of medication that treat the symptoms but do not cure the disease. It's always been about the money.

i've noticed that the people who are truly homeless never ask for anything. saw a guy walk down the street with absolutely nothing one day, now i see him almost daily with shoes and a shopping cart full of stuff. all while there are pan handlers on the street begging for money, this guy just walks down the sidewalk.

I worked in public health. Sadly most of the responses ITT are true. I would rather give my charity to third world countries where they need it more. Being poor in first world is like being middle class in third world slums.

I thought about begging for money, you make more than a min wage job. One guy made $100 in 30 mins i know.

Dont trash a profession unless you've tried it.

If your drug/alcohol free and dont cause trouble, you can make a lot of money

Whether you are homeless or not, I don't agree with just existing and not trying to improve you and your families life, learning stuff, expanding your body, mind, skills, wealth, social circle, whatever. It's a basic human nature
