I've only seen it one time at the gym quite a while ago. This chick who'd always be mirin me even though I was dyel at the time looked pretty insecure when she saw me squatting 185lbsx4 atg as I was warming up. She just bertstared at me and kinda rolled her eyes as she hadd 185 on the bar too and that was her 3 rm.

Then I put on 205lbs and hit it for 3 atg she just kept staring at me. Proceeded to continue staring at me, put on that much weight herself, and started 1/8th squatting it for reps. I think she was rustled because she's probably been training for years (and her legs showed it), and I've seen her mirin me ever since I first hit the gym and was only squatting a plate like 6 months ago. Probably didn't like that I could get ahead of her in such a small time frame plus me looking like a 15 year old who doesn't even lift probably didn't sit well.

Very true, I think there are some people out there that are trying to modify the Wilks equation to better suit everyone.

But that being said there will never be a true 100% full proof way to truly measure two people.

Had a similar experience years ago. I think she was obsessed with legs and leg workouts and she was hot af. Generally i think all girls who like squats probably just appreciate other people doing squats.
The female powerlifter types or females who know a thing or two about squats tend to try keep to themselves and try not to focus much on anything other than lifts is always cool to see similar mentalities (At least in the gym i use to go to).
Started lifting again 1 month ago since i bought a home gym and it's good to be making gains again.

Got my lil sis into lifting seriously and now getting her into counting cals and macros for them gains.

I just asked some of the women lifters in my gym. The consensus was, "No, because unlike the men we usually stick with it, so we end up better than them anyway."

theres some truth to that in the sense that girls who are actually srs about lifiting get into it and stay with it (im talking about girls who lift not cardio bunnies) where as the average newbie guy in the gym will most likely stop after a few months

Tbh yeah sometimes. There's pros and cons though. Obviously it's harder for us to put ton muscle, but we also need less of it to look good ( though not as little as the threads where they say we only have to eat less to look good presume).

I guess it all works out.

Yea the gym is the one place where you meet girls who are kinda different and not as "basic" so to say and have mentalities you can relate to. Always felt weird about getting a home gym though which I might eventually cause I'm probably going to miss all the interactions with other people at the gym even if there are often long wait times for certain machines.

Disagree with this. Imo most people regardless just quit after a month anyway. More than 70% of all the regulars that you begin recognising at any gym seem to be men.

Women care more about competition with other women than with men. It's all about being somewhat supportive, somewhat downplaying passive aggressive. I guess guys do this too though.

But when you can rep a female's max out for like 30-50 reps I'm sure that makes them mad just like when Larry Wheels can rep most people's maxes for 15-20+ reps

Personally for me it was to get workouts in at the best times (After work peak hour etc) no interruptions and hopefully save money in the long run. I do get what you mean though with interaction. The usual's who you nod to and greet and some of the men and women you meet etc.

In some ways its easier for women, the standards are extremely low in comparison. I've seen a female post threads demonstrating strength that, my girlfriend achieved in about 3 months lifting and she got praised as if she was very strong. Imagine a guy posting the equivalent, maybe a 150 lbs bench press he'd get destroyed

Much less women lift, and a very small proportion actually test the limits for whats possible naturally both in strength and size. that paired with the ideal shape often posted being a lot less impressive compared to the "natural" physiques males look up to mean its a lot easier for them to be impressively muscular/strong

Fukking retarded.

That being said, my lifts are huge and I'm only 165lbs. Dat der slim waist, light bones, and big fukkin muscles.
What i've never understood is how height isnt factored in. A short guy at 5'10 who is 100kg can be insanely jacked, so will surely be stronger than a guy 6'5 and 100kg who will just be lanky

Its unfathomable how hard they struggle with these 3 lifts:

1. Bench press
2. Pull-up
3. Chin-up

There is a sloot at my gym that can do a set of 8 pull-ups and she is considered some sort of diety amongst her peers.

They have to train for years to bench a weight that we can lift in 1 month of training so yea I'd imagine so.

Yeah but women can look better with less work so it works out evenly. Plus once you get that squat booty you can make money off it from social media. Have people drooling on instagram. For guys, you gotta have a god tier physique to make it on instagram. It doesn't matter if I'm strong if I can't show it. Most of us will never use gym strength to its' full capacity in real life. Aesthetics arguably matter more.

That's not the stats, either at a big gym or a little training garage like mine.

At the Y we got for signups about 60% women and 40% men, 12 months later about 65% of the women were still members, and 35% of the men. The biggest difference was seeking instruction, they got a few training sessions to introduce them to the gym, around 1/3 accepted these, and 2/3 rejected them, the difference in 12 month retention was 40 vs 80%. Mostly women did these appointments, not men. Guys tend not to seek instruction, and if they get instruction they reject it.

In a big gym, women are less likely to step into the weights area, but if they do, they're more likely to seek instruction first. So while the gender balance in front of the mirrors may be 70-30 in favour of guys, if you take out all the guys doing partial ROM squats with a pad on the bar and 1/4 ROM dumbbell presses with 10kg more than they can handle, you actually end up with more women than men.

This of course assumes the gym has a PT or two who can actually instruct usefully. Most gyms have 12-20 PTs, usually only 1 or at most 2 can coach (for example) a below parallel squat. If there's no competent PTs then yeah, not many women will be lifting at all. Maybe your gym just has bosu retards.

In my garage gym, we have 3 month training terms. 9/10 of the women last till the end of their first 3 months, 1/3 of the men last. So it's actually more extreme than the big gym was.

Don't judge by the regulars you see and talk to, there are a few confounding factors. One is that women more often do group fitness classes, men more often stand by the mirror popping pimples. Another is that women who train seriously will avoid the busy times with lots of men - no woman's going in to do her heavy day squats Monday 6pm. But again, your gym may have no competent instructors.

Males have greater potential for how quickly they can get stronger and bigger than do women, but few come even close to it. It's too easy for them and they don't like being told what to do.

It's like the smart kid in high school who bombs out at uni - he's used to everything being easy and being able to not do homework, now he actually has to work for it and pay attention he can't handle it. Women, on the other hand, in strength training terms like the kid who had to struggle just to be mediocre. They're used to sht being hard and needing help so it doesn't bother them.

So if I get a guy who squats 100kg on day one I know he won't last. The guy who needs a couple of weeks just to squat the empty bar I've got more hope for.

And this is why women lifters aren't that jealous of men's ability to pack on strength and muscle. Or rather, they're disappointed that men are wasting potential. But this is not something restricted to the weight room, across the West men are wasting their potential out of sheer idleness.

If I see a woman benching what Yeahimmad benches or even DL/Squats crazy numbers for a female IRL, best believe I'm taking her out on a 3 course post workout meal at the finest restaurant and then a romantic night drive. Phucking Hnnnnnnnnnng man. (No WK btw)

no because men are physiologically different to women and I don't feel competitive with men. I see beginners (men) come in my gym and they are scrawny and lanky and they try benching for the first time in their lives and they start repping out my 1rm lol. If a female did that I'd be gutted tho

This.

For a guy, your lifts should probably be at least double the amount compared to the average female. I.e if the average girl's squat max is 185, a guy should be able to squat 370

With this in mind there shouldn't be any real competition or competitiveness between men and women, assuming you aren't a weak male *******
