I've seen an egg cup before, but it seems like one of those completely pretentious and unnecessary things. Something a guy with a butler would eat just to be an ass hat.

I just boil water in a metal bidet. It also doubles as an egg cup. Depending on how bad the plumbing gets this year it may even serve as a piss and chit cup. I'll still probably jizz in a sock tho.

I'm going to invent a cupholder for the egg cup and market it to euro****s. 10k/day 4 life here we go.

It's to stop the yolk from a soft boiled egg from just falling out on the plate and going to waste, you eat the yolk by soaking it up with sliced toast and then you use a small spoon to hollow out the egg and eat the white or to spoon the white onto another slice of toast

I've never have seen the need to actually use them. My mom doesn't even see the need to use them, and she has them in her cabinets. Meh. It's easier to simply place them in a bowl and be done with it, instead of using egg cups.

Embarrassing to say, but I thought microwaving water was the way to go

How do you eat soft boiled eggs in the US then?
Soft boiled egg + salt is so damn hnnnnngggg.
Don't care much for dipping toast in the yolk.

Also anyone who've stayed at a hotel in (most, if not all of, I think?) Europe should know what an eggcup is.

Here is how I eat 100% of my eggs

Morning #1 - I cook them over easy in a pan with a little olive oil

Morning #2 - I hard boil 12 eggs and just bring them with me; peel and eat

If I eat eggs I eat between 4-6, scrambled usually.

Eating 4-6 eggs in a cup, having to peel it seems like it would take forever and be more annoying.

Also, most Americans eat eggs scrambled or fried, not boiled (unless its Thanksgiving)

I couldn't imaginenotowning a kettle. My parents have always made their own sweet tea by the gallon and I've done the same since I started living on my own many years ago.

Never owned an egg cup but only because I rarely even eat scrambled eggs and would likely never eat an egg in a way that the egg cup would be necessary.
