Got a hookup on Serge Lutens and went zero to 100 real quick. I had one bottle last month, lol. They are re-arranging their collections and moving a bunch to Paris-exclusive so stocked up.
Ended up completely forgetting to check back in with the thread while I was gone but ended up just walking the strip, getting drunk, and exploring different hotels both days. The Buffet at Wynn is by far the best buffet I've ever been to. Went for lunch but ended up not getting there until 2 minutes before they switched to their dinner prices so instead of like $40 a person for their dinner pricing it was only like $27 a piece and we still got the dinner meals. Highly suggest going if any of you brahs are in Vegas anytime soon. Also if you're into live music the dueling piano bar in Paris was one of the highlights of the entire trip for me. It's just two guys on two pianos playing requests from the crowd in a sort of lounge setting but they were really good and made sure to interact with the people.

Went to the Guerlain boutique in Palazzo/Venetian and was finally able to smell more than just SDV. Tonka Imperiale, Derby, and Cuir Beluga were the three I've been wanting to try and TI/CB were amazing. Definitely lived up to the 5 years or so of hype they've had for me. Derby wasn't at all what I was expecting and honestly wasn't a huge fan.
Santal Royal was very good and I could see myself buying some if I ever decide to start buying again. The rep also had me smell another that was really nice but I can't recall the name of it.



Saw the Serge Lutens picture and was about to ask about Fille En Aiguilles but scrolled down a little and saw your response. It's the only one I've tried from SL but it's one of my favorites. Always wondered why it didn't get talked about more but it is a little hard to see a real occasion to wear it other than it smells fantastic, which is really all you need I guess.

Yeah. It's technically discontinued but the guy behind SLUMBERHOUSE made a random instagram post with a photo of the bottle and a link to the store. Just 33 bottles released again and sold out in less than a day.

Blind buy for me but SLUMBERHOUSE never disappoints. Really a master perfumer (Josh Lobb) who isn't afraid and isn't motivated by numbers. Really love it. I knew I would regret if I passed so I said **** it and bought one.

Received this recently and just got to testing it. It's WOW and extremely rich, as Slumberhouse is known for. The fragrance to me is sweet, smokey, candied, preserved plums. You kind-of get it all at once and the fragrance is very linear. But when you smell it, you get the candied plums up front, and the smoke lingers in the background.

I love smokey fragrances, and this one definitely has similarities to the SMOKEHOUSE (hehe) that is JEKE. But this one with it's touch of sweetness, becomes much more addicting. It is definitely wearable.

It is not a "go out and buy it now" for me but happy to have it in the collection before it is lost.

Nice, glad you had a great time. I've bookmarked the two recommendations you made.

I completely agree that Derby is not for most, it's old school, and more difficult to like. No surprise that it was not a commercial success. I never reach for it.

Santal Royal is so affordable right now, luckily, I got a bottle from fragrancenet (sold out now) and you are looking at only $20/10mL shipped.

Fille is fantastic, I got four bottles now :S.

Luca Turin says Derby sits halfway between Guerlain Vetiver and Habit Rouge. So it's redundant if you own both already.

Luca Turin also says Derby is "one of the ten best masculine perfumes of all time” so I couldn't cross it out immediately.

I guess Derby shares the greeness of Vetiver and some floral/citrus from Habit Rouge but it's not a simple blend of both IMO.

I dont know which version i tried, but this one just didnt work for me. Vetiver is pretty nice.

Nah, too be honest, I could have gone with spending zero at this sale and been fine. Having said that, I am happy to help clear out all the bottles in the old bottle style that remained. (2 Rose, 1 Angelique, 2 Bois d'Armenie, and 1 Tonka.) I am out of all of these personally anyways.

Feels weird brahs. I have a big, big job interview today and don't want any scent impressions during the interview. I know this probably goes against popular opinion, but I think a job interview is the last place a person should wear a fragrance.

I'm with you - particularly with some workplaces being fragrance free.

More likely to hurt you than help you TBH

Would agree, and good luck m80. You never know what would turn people off/on and I wouldn't want to put any potential in the off and not getting a job.

Thanks dudes.The way I see it, if you wear any fragrance you havesomechance of putting one of the interviewers off.

If you wear no fragrance, you have 0 chance of offending.

This topic comes up occasionally in the FB groups and I'm always amazed at how many people ignore this basic logic and insist on wearing something. Even if there's a 1% chance of an interviewer not liking your scent - why risk it?

In an interview situation I would not do anything to stack the deck against me (or that will potentially do that).


Source: I'm a manager in my company and regularly interview and making hiring decisions. Would I care if anyone is wearing anything at this point, nope, and I'd probably ask what it was, but when it comes to interviews it's very easy to let subconscious things sway your decision making. Especially when you have two candidates competing who have pretty much identical quals and interview success with you.
