Srs no joking tonight :'(
****Dear diary. Read while pooping. VERY LONG*****
-I am a genuinely nice person and treat everyone with respect.
-I text people every once in awhile to see how they are doing if I haven't heard from them.same with family from out of state.
-Will help anyone (if a friend's car is broke down I will come pick them up, have helped people move, babysat people's kids expecting nothing in return etc)
-I am usually available to go do stuff if people give me a little advance notice (so it's not like people are inviting and I'm turning them down over and over)
-People that I meet say I'm fun to be around and I have a great personality.
SO...im wondering why acquaintances never turn into friends. I literally have 4 friends but only regularly talk to 2 of them. Their choice not mine.
I'm not going to keep texting people if after the third time no reply. Not gonna be a needy little bitch texting people constantly when they don't reciprocate.
I feel due to all this, and what I feel like is getting screwed over, I have become a little bit bitter and slowly stopped trying to make friends (I figure they can call me instead of me always being the one to initiate)
Example- two people just this week that haven't talked to me in over 3 months have the audacity to text me. One asking what we needed to read for micro, and another asking me if we can meet up and study for anatomy
(in b4 5 hrs of studying lol...yes I overestimated because I timed it the other night and it's actually only about 2 hrs if constant study)
One person I completely ignored both of their texts.
The other I replied back with the Savage "who is this?"
She goes "its Laura, ...dang"
I replied back with "well I didn't know since I haven't heard anything from you in about 3 months and the only other person that has talked to me in the group is Amanda .I I get kind of salty when people drop off the "friend planet"
She replied back "i just got busy with life. ...can we study today or tomorrow"
I said "it only takes a few seconds to send someone a text and see how they're doing" "you could literally text me in the time it takes for you to take a chit"
Didn't reply after that cause i am not even gonna attempt to be someones friend that doesn't have time to cultivate a friendship.
Keep in mind she went NC for 3 fukking months but then ALL OF A SUDDEN has time again for me ..just in time for test #1 (suprise!)
Other friends either act like they don't have time, or don't invite me places unless I text them first. It's like I'm an afterthought.
Yet, these are the same people that go on and on to their other friends saying how funny I am and how fun I am to be around and that all their friends will just love me when we DO go somewhere and Im introduced.
And for anyone who hasn't caught n yet, I totally do use the misc to feel like I have somewhat of a life other than family, and school.
Cliffs..if you've made it this far
*op is a Very loyal friend
*people say op is Fun to be around
*Only has 4 friends
*2 of which talk to on the regular/do stuff with
*op is starting to get the attitude of "fuk everyone" bc hardly any friends
Just tired of people atm. I can see how genuinely weird and socially awkward girls don't have friends but I'm really not that way. I'm weird but not in a scary or off-putting way..and no I'm not super sexual to everyone irl lol

Sounds like you're a weirdo srs
Your description of yourself sounds great but most chitty people don't realize they're chitty. Perhaps you're rude to people and don't realize it. Perhaps you come off as clingy or needy. Perhaps you simply are not fun and have very little to offer, so people aren't drawn to you for social interaction. The fact you made this thread and seem to blame everyone but yourself makes me pretty confident you are a lame person not worthy of friends.
Not trying to mean here just calling it like I see it.

"im wondering why acquaintances never turn into friends"
Because friendship takes time, effort, and trust to be created
most people after highschool/college usually lack time, and with the lack of time they put in less effort cuz they want that time for themselves, and without that time and effort you can't cultivate real trust.
This is why most people who are friends in adulthood are either carried over from younger years, or share the same hobbies or interest because they normally set aside time and effort for the hobby they just add a person into the mix

I thought you were an old mom. But yeah I can feel ya on some of that stuff. I don't really take it to heart if they don't text me or anything after not seeing each other irl for a while. Because honestly, I don't like talking too much over phone so, even if they're my closest friends I could go a year without ever saying a word to them, but still feel the same about our friendship. I mean, as much as I love my parents, during college I'd go months without even talking to them. And that's just me, coming from someone who doesn't really care for mindless chit chat, nor does it cross my mind much to do.

Stuff like "omg you're so funny!" "You are really nice/fun to be around" "you're the only person I can talk to that won't run their mouth"..stuff like that.
The clinginess part yes, I'll admit in the past I have called People once a week or texted them 1x a week and then not reply back and I'd get hurt and say something when they never replied...now I just stop and delete them from my phone if I haven't heard from someone in quite awhile after I've made the effort.

Married women are not fun friends since they can't go slooting or clubbing or do anything fun with the slooty friends.
I have the exact opposite problem, though. People always try to get me go hang out and I never want to go. Then when they stop asking, I feel relieved but guilty.
I only want to hang out with husband or my best friend, that's it.

Real friends are really, really hard to find. When I was in college, and ******** was a college thing, I had a huge friends list. I was always getting tagged in pictures, wall full of messages etc. After a psycho ex girlfriend forced me to cut off all social media and leave the state, only 2 people bothered to reach out to me. I speak to them about once a year now. Once I was out of the loop (aka not useful to get people into clubs/get people into parties), that was it for my big social circle.
As you get older, life really does take over. Now my time is eaten up by work, my family (wife and a troublemaking toddler), etc. I only have one actual friend, and he's been my best friend since I was a kid. I consider having even one friend to be something to feel lucky about.

When I DO find someone like me that also doesn't have a ton of friends and likes the things I do, we stay friends for life. The two friends I have that I talk to regularly we have been friends one for 24 years, the other for 12.

Head up OP, it sucks now and I see where you are coming from, you shouldn't be the one putting in all of the effort. Maybe instead of just texting, try scheduling girls nights with these girls a few times a month?

When I was a younger mom raising my kids I really didn't make much time for friends. I had too many other things on my plate so friends were never at the top of my list.

Let me get your number girl ill text you
SUP
On a serious note as you get older its alot harder for people to reach out to you / hangout
Brb working 9-5
brb spend 2-3 hours in traffic
brb kids
brb husband/wife
brb cook dinner / worry about bills
yah hard to find time to reachout to friends. Honestly most of my married friends i talk to maybe once every 2 months and usually i am the one that reaches out to them. Even single friends have way to much going on...thats life as you get older bby.
I already know that the best time of my life was college / highschool. Even when i was in HS i never got why people complained about school ... brb spending 8 hrs a day 5 days a week w friends , learning new things, and getting free food...dont have to think about bills ...dont have to think about work **** was lit.

I only have a few friends because I'm actually a hopeless friend when it comes to texting and making plans. I use to make plans to go out but it would get to that time to go out, honestly I couldn't be bothered. Some friends are super hard work, have to call them all the time and they are always wanting to go out, that not me.
Also nothing wrong with only having a few friends. You do not need a lot of friends.

You sound needy though. Get mad because someone didn't ask how you're doing for a few months?
I've got really good friends I only talk to a couple times a year when we get together for a football game or something. If they texted me every week to say hi it'd be annoying.
Thank god I'm a guy. Only text to figure out logistics of doing something
