Two groups of people to blame here.

#1 - the people that buy every apple product

#2 - the idiots that started buying phones with the "next" program that started about 2 or 3 years ago. Because of you idiots, phone companies are now getting full retail value for their phones in stead of making us extend our contract by 2 years. You ****ing morons made it so that we have to pay full retail for phones now.

Everything about this phone would have fukked with Jobs' OCD so bad. Terrible UX design decisions, horrible naming convention, 5-year-old tech marketed to iLemmings as "innovative"-- I'm not even an iPhone hater, just a realist.

Getting the 8+ on release day, the price is not that bad when i think about how much i use my phone. The iphone X is not worth imo thought.

The A10 is still unrivaled when it comes to raw performance in the mobile market

People also forget that the price also subsidizes AppleCare. Name another phone that lets you go into a certified OEM shop and get it replaced / repaired for free / cheap with guaranteed official hardware.

Also Apple's customer support is still better than other companies.

Sorry OP but phones these days are not like wasting money on vanity items like paintings or a pair of shoes/clothes. They are powerful tools to get things done. We have the entire worlds knowledge at the tip of our fingertips, contact with any person at any time, etc etc, i could go on and on. Apple currently sells a bunch of phones for a bunch of price points and they all are basically equal in capability. If someone has the means and wants the bigger screen or whatever the new feature is (yes for vanity, just like buying a ferrari, or ***** shoes, etc) more power to them. Apple is definitely not forcing anyone to buy the iPhone x and are not hindering those that can't afford it so quit your crying and go fist yourself

Many of you guys are missing the point. Apple and Samsung have a $1K price tag on their flagship phones simply due to our society's dependence on smart phones. Cost of tech should be decreasing (i.e., laptops, TV's) even as the technology improves. Not the case with smartphones due to no other reason than corporate greed.

I'm happy with my 2014 iPhone 6

I've cut down on all the materialistic spending and fakery bull**** over the past year while saving a tonne of money so I'll treat myself to the iPhone 8 at February.

No way am I taking a brand new smart phone with me when i go travelling this December.

I wouldn't say there is a problem whatsoever. There are many excellent phones priced lower than the iPhone X. Simply don't buy one if you feel like it's too much. Why is this thread 10+ pages LOL.

A $10,000 USD Honda Civic would get people around. They could take the bus or subway for far less money. They could buy a Rolls-Royce Phantom, so what?
I'll never understand why people get so mad on what other people are spending their monies on that they like and enjoy.

Apple, has a long history of overpriced products for what you're actually getting. It's their designs that are their niche.
There isn't anything ground-breaking here that other phones haven't already had. The face recognition is probably the only true unique about the phone and it's utility is questionable.

Really struggling to justify 1k for a phone. Even though I use my phone for everything in my life. Bills, utilities, mortgages sign documents, read books etc.

I have a 5S and it does everything I need right now. Ah such is life in this rat race world.
