So how do I transfer coins from electrum to the nano once I get it? Reading up on it and it says you can use electrum w/ the nano if you first set up the software with a hardware wallet but I already have it installed on my computer.

I know I am a complete noob at this so I appreciate you guys explain this stuff. Will remember to rep on recharge. Lots of good info in this thread reading through it now.

The way ETP is moving is giving me alot of reminders from WTC.

Massive volume, close to half of the market cap.

The FUD is immense, everyone calling it a pump and dump.

Ignoring other market forces, i.e when Bitcoin is rallying and alts dumping, ETP simply ignores and goes its own way. WTC did the exact same.

This is looking very good.

If it can sustain this, leg up + dip trend, people will soon notice it's not a P&D and then you get the mainstream money all jumping in, AKA the NEO at $50 buyers.

Been buying small amounts since the summer on coinbase w/ a credit card due to the low limits. Last night I made a thread on how to buy in bulk. Was always weary about giving out my online bank login info, drivers license, etc to raise my limits.

This morning went ahead and did a bank transfer to buy 10k. Was $4500 last night and it is already at $5300. Crazy man. I hope I don't regret this because I got a little sick in my stomach right after I bought 1.8 coins today.

Yeah GOAT is back with music to my ears. ETP moves like greased lightening. Hold on to your butts.

What's your prediction for the next month?

Speaking of WTC, is it going to move? Seems like it really struggles getting to the mid $7s.

It really depends on their communication and the way they market themselves, I can't call a prediction.

That's what I bought too. Noticed that amazon doesn't officially sell it. Should I be worried about sketchy sellers? What if the wallet is compromised/counterfeit? There has to be a safe guard to this I am assuming.

You're getting ahead of me, but once I get mine tomorrow I will post up and let you know. Unless someone else can chime in.
Question: Is it safe to order a Ledger Nano S from a third-party seller?
Answer: Yes, with two caveats. 1) that it passes their attestation. Go to Ledger's website and read what that is. It checks the cert built into the hardware. 2) take hobby knife, open the back, and verify the correct chip is inside (not larger memory) and there are no other chips piggy backing it.
The manufacturer has posted guides to both of these. It took me about 10 minutes to check mine.

The Ledger Wallet Chrome application sends a random value to the Nano as a challenge. The Nano then signs this random value + the firmware version, using anembedded private key shared by some batches.

The Chrome app knows the public key and can verify the signature.

If an attacker switched the Nano with a replica running a rogue firmware, it wouldn’t pass the attestation test and would immediatly be rejected as non genuine.

There is absolutely no way that an attacker could replace the firmware and make it pass attestation, without knowing the Ledger private key.

I think this is good. BTC breaking 5k will further solidify crypto's legitimacy and bring in new money which will eventually flow into alts.

I've made decent profit over the past few months in crypto; it was ~300%, now it's 100% (mostly because I invested more recently, partially because Eth dropped since ATH). So with that said, this has been the easiest cash I've ever made; it feels very strange to me. I was always taught there's no such thing as easy money, so this is a very bizarre, albeit exciting area to be in right now.

With that said, I sense (and this is admittedly intuitional/emotional, along with the knowledge of a highly speculative market cap in a young hyped market) that major crypto market cap correction will happen down the line. IDK when it will happen; I doubt it's coming anytime soon so I'm staying in the game for sure - at least not until common folk have easy access to crypto investments and that settles down.

I'm very bullish on blockchain disruption in general, but that doesn't mean the current market cap is realistic. Anyone else think about this - I guess slightly longer term thinking?

I got a feeling 1 or more hedgefunds is planning a massive short of BTC.

Today's run up was the exact opposite of organic.

4am EST - Perfect time when the majority of us are sleeping (so we can't enjoy the juicy gains on a high leverage trade.) BTC starts moving fast from 4900 upwards. Massive volume across all exchanges. All the sell orders are being gobbled up, the low liquidity was perfect as everytime there was a drop in 10-20 points, they'd throw up $70,000 buy walls to prevent any dipping. I think they were mostly trying to get FOMOers to buy in, as well as create a "short squeeze" to further drive up the price. Right after 5400, they stopped. I'm expecting this same group to run up the price this way a few more times, their goal is probably to spend as little of their own money propping up the price while riding highly leveraged trades on the way up. Once they think a correction is naturally going to occur, they will dump their bags very hard. My ultimate goal is to catch this while it's happening and short BTC down along with them.

Obviously it's not, BTC's market cap grew by a few billion dollars yet it only took a thin sell book and a few million dollars to move it. Everyone's in hodl mode so $100,000 on major exchanges to throw down buy walls was all it took.

I think there's quite a few people who think that in here. It could happen at any moment especially if multiple big governments decide to clamp down. Or it could happen when it's way too inflated. But I'm not worried about the inflation part until your average joe has at least heard of ethereum and has mentioned bitcoin. Right now your average joe still might not even know what bitcoin is and hasn't even heard of ethereum at all.

I know what you mean. Been buying small amounts (due to instant buy limits on coinbase) since the summer and already made 2.5x back for doing nothing. I always thought it was too late to get in on this, stretching back years.

But I think it is only going to get more popular once the mainstream population becomes aware of it. Not many people I talk to in real life even know what crypto currencies are and look at me with a funny face.

Hunkered down and bought 1.8 coins (10k worth) this morning. Will be interesting to see what happens in the coming months.

I pretty much agree with all of this. Luckily I've only lost about 20% of my portfolio with these dips but it doesn't phase me at all. I think blockchain is def the future and here to stay but this "bubble" will eventually pop. I think we will see amazing gains in the next 6 month - 2 years but the market will eventually have to correct itself. Luckily we are still so new to this game so it should be pretty far off. A marketcap of 150ish billion is nothing with this technology. A trillion is def on the horizon in the next year or two.
What happens in the future will be very interesting and this is why I think it is extremely beneficial to take this on as a part time job along with everyone's primary job. I'm definitely treating this like a real job and putting in work even when I don't really want to read the markets or a whitepaper but the gains I've made in the last cpl months surpass what I've made in my job all year so the pay off has been amazing.

If there is no way to determine whether an investment is undervalued or overvalued, you are gambling. I've said this since day one and that's why my goal has always been to make as much money as soon as possible. You really can't tell what will happen 1 or 2 years from now. I must say though, that this has been the best gamble of my life. You can bet $1 to win $5 and are basically at risk of losing 50 cents most of the time.

Right now your average joe still might not even know what bitcoin is and hasn't even heard of ethereum at all.
Have a few ethereum coins just to see if they blow up but I think bitcoin is the key player. It is the face of crypto. I know when I first heard about crypto currencies I only heard of bitcoin being mentioned. I mean online retailers are accepting it as payment now. You can even book into certain hotels with it. Crazy stuff.

I think it will really take off soon. But nothing is guaranteed and I just want to see where this takes me.

Yeah i also agree something is coming, maybe a fight from banks and to a lesser extent governments.

While btc hitting highs is good for news and pulling average investors in, it also adds fuel to banks, whale investors that this is a bubble driven by what exactly? A progressively slower btc growth is much more preferred imo
