I do have something to say now, tho. It's not a happy story, so if you don't want to get bummed don't click on the spoiler.
Spoiler!
Last weekend my kiddo and I were sort of play wrestling. I grabbed her wrist to block her from hitting me and I felt cuts, so naturally I stopped playing and inspected what I felt. There were 4-5 lines on the top of her wrist. They were very superficial, butclearlyintentional. I completely freaked out, was crying asking why she would hurt herself. Good thing my husband was there because it completely destroyed me. She said she did it before her parent teacher conferences because she thought she was doing bad (she wasn't, a little behind from our vacation...butnothinghorrible). We made sure she wasn't suicidal and let her know the dangers of doing that, and she hasplentyof people to talk to. Told her she if she doesn't want to talk to us, to call her sister or teachers or anyone and she seemed to get it.
On Tuesday, she was cleaning up her dinner dishes and I casually asked how she was doing, and if she was ok. By the look in her eye, I already knew. She asked me if she could go get something. I said okay. She brought me down a note saying that it happened again (this time on the opposite side, still superficial). She said that she feels worthless and not good enough. She said she does not want to die, and it didn't feel better when she did it, it made her feel worse. She knows that it is wrong, and didn't place blame on anyone. She kept repeating that it wasn't our fault and that no one caused it. I kept my wits about me this time. I asked if she was getting bullied, she said no. I asked if this was about a boy. No again. She said she is just really stressed out. I asked her if this had anything to do with her uncle (the one that killed himself) and her eyes filled with tears and she nodded.
I am putting her in therapy. I already have calls into 3 different ones. I wish they would call me back. She asked for help, which I view as a good thing. I am just really sad that my happy, healthy little girl feels so hopeless. I am constantly cursing my brother in law for putting her through this. This is HIS fault. He is causing her pain and I can't kick him in the balls, or blacken his eyes. I have angry tears in my eyes as I type this. She mentioned in her letter that she knows she has a "great life", and she does. She wants for basically nothing, has present parents, good friends, and a great village around her to make sure she gets what she needs. It's flabbergasting that she is so sad. She's one of the most bubbly people I know. Absolutely heartbreaking.
I told her that if she gets the feeling of doing that again to do something else, like take a walk, write about how she is feeling, jumping jacks, just anything but that. Also told her that we need to come up with a word that she could say if she needs to talk about something heavy so I know that I need to hold myself together. So we did that. I'm hanging by a thread over here. She doing promising things by talking to me about it and wanting to get help, but still I cannot believe we are dealing with this.
Feels a little better now that I wrote about it.

Oh man Bitty. I'm so sorry she is feeling this way. It brought tears to my eyes to think that kids can even get to this point.I'm in here on the daily, but haven't really had much to say. I keep an eye on all you ****goons, don't you worry.
I do have something to say now, tho. It's not a happy story, so if you don't want to get bummed don't click on the spoiler.

You don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.

Why can't we just keep our kids 6 and under. I don't think I can deal with all this.
