Let's have a serious discussion about how to trade this fork from here on.

Looking at the last fork this is what happened:
Up until and just before the fork -> BTC pumped hard
Right after the fork -> BTC tanked and alts pumped hard.

While the last fork was a non-event, this fork should be a bit different. What we know so far:

- BTC channel resistance somewhere around 7500 - which could be a top for this current rise.
- Over 80% of miners are still signalling 2x support
- Most influential businesses, e.g. Coinbase, have said they will initially name the fork B2X but will later name whichever chain that has the most accumulated work as "BTC"

What are some scenarios where the fork is truly a non-event?
1) 2X gets completely called off or loses major support during the next 2 weeks (unlikely)
2) Core decides to implement hard fork themselves or support 2x (very unlikely)
3) Fork happens, but it is smooth because the market quickly rejects one side and picks a winner (most likely)

What do you guys think is the best play here?
a) Hold BTC but sell shortly before fork and stay in fiat until the winner is decided and then buy that one after it most likely has a correction.
b) Switch BTC to alts just before fork in hopes of alt pump after fork
c) Hold BTC in order to get both forks and hopefully make the right call and sell the losing chain or otherwise just hold both
d) something else?

keep in mind if you do decide to sell the 2x coin right after the fork for "free money", if it for some reason ended up the winner later you would have essentially sold your btc for something almost worthless.

I don't know wtf to do anymore, this whole thing has went the absolute opposite of what I had expected. A couple months back I decided to go 50% fiat because of the Segwit2x uncertainty that should by all logic have caused the price to dip not rise. At the same time I also made the decision to keep holding the OmiseGo I had left instead of temporarily selling to btc. Had I not made these 2 mistakes, my portfolio would have literally crossed the 1 Million mark on MY FUKING BIRTHDAY.
I am so fuking mad.

WTC and ZEN crew.

Sold my solar coin at 30% profit into BTC, now just sitting here and gaining . Dunno what to move into, either more WTC or zen. Or just leave it there and use it to play with other pump and dumps?

The sad part is even if it gets back to ATH I'll still feel like a moron for purely holding all the way through the dip and not increasing my stack

If you weren't in bitcoin since before the gold fork then you should quit crypto right now. Bitcoin will hit at least 8k before the fork and altcoins will continue to tank.

the truth is that there is always more down

if btc breaks 7k expect it to run to 7150 in short order

at this rate the whole misc crypto crew will be on suicide watch...

i dont think people know whats going on with the fork..

i think im gonna have to stay in btc till the screenshot

but i think s2x will pump after fork more than btg because its more serious. so, the demand will be there, but it will be transient and short-lived. i will probably sell it because i think it will die off initially

and then ill get back in later if i think its viable

That sounds reasonable. I think it's a good idea to keep your btc on GDAX if you want to trade the fork quickly, I think they stated they will open trading 4 hours after the fork or something.

If I moved my WTC to bitcoin before the btcg fork I could have tripled my WTC stack today

Strikes me as crazy desperate to sell out of alts and put in BTC at the moment, however I would have said that same thing 24 hours ago and been very wrong lol.

Am I the only one buying these discounted alts?

Not a single **** was given about BTC or it's fork.

Sure I will probably lose some money as the fork date comes closer but I don't even mind tbh. I'll keep buying all the way down to the bottom.

I seriously doubt we will some of these alts as low as they are now.
