Eth is the platform that got me interested in blockchain potential (smart contracts). It really does have potential to disrupt multiple industries by cutting out middle men.

I did not invest in BTC when I researched it years ago for a few reasons after reading the whitepaper. I invested recently though, because even if it is a 'bubble', I don't think that bubble is nearly finished. Unfortunately I did not have that short/med term perspective years ago and only thought very long term.

The bubble ain't over yet; not until the general population has simple exposure to it (via ETFs, retirement funds etc.).

It's just too fickle. The security for the average user just isn't there (anyone who stores their coin in an online wallet, just lol. Even cold storage is flawed.) and is in your own hands. There's no bank to look after your bitcoin for you and there never will be. Also, Coinbase could go the way of MtGox which lost $640 million in a day through hacking and there's nothing you can do about it. Are you willing to invest your slave earned fiat currency in something so volatile? Bitcoin has a hardcap and is an old and flawed crypto. ETH is much better but suffers from the same issues.

I agree that the bubble hasn't burst yet and won't for a while - I think it'll carry on into 2018 and will then just collapse but not into nothingness, especially with big players like Goldman Sachs etc. involved. Their purchasing power just dwarfs anything and the average Miscer investing 200 USD into BTC is going to end up getting f*cked.

Eth has gone from 300 to 370 in less than a week.

I bought 80 Litecoins @ 55.80 like a little over two weeks ago. It is now almost 73/coin. I lucked out with that timing.

Theres a reason the most ACTIVE THREAD ON THE MISC is the crypto thread. All miscers who haven't participated yet are missing out on free money..I bought at all time high when it was 6.7k, bought some more at 8.2k. This is just the beginning boyos.

lmfao....gg

That dude is making out like a bandit. Thing is if i were him, I still hold on. $10k per btc will prob be here as soon as the end of the year, but like some miscers are speculating. 1 BTC can possibly reach the 6 figure mark in a year or 2. That man can come out of this a multimillionaire.

Personally though, unless I wont a lottery of like $100k or something im not gonna bother with investing in BTC anymore at this point, but XRP does seem interesting. I can see myself putting $5-10k into that and just sitting on it for a year or 2, easily be able to quadruple my money in that time.

I bought 50 BTC when they were ~600 USD (very stupid decision in hindsight), I sold all but one in late 2016. didn't make much of a profit, no regrets - I essentially got scared and bailed. Proud owner of a single BTC to see what happens.

You can buy on Localbitcoins and transfer it to your Coinbase to sell.

I bought a couple hundred bucks worth on coinbase about a year ago and forgot about it lol.

I know next to nothing about investing as is pretty clear.

People more so in the know, is following the misc crypto thread enough to know when to sell before the bubble bursts?

Coinbase is FDIC insured up to $250k. Anyway, most of my coins are in a cold storage hardware wallet.

The only way someone can get my coins is by getting my private key (and that is based on mathematical certainty of it being unguessable). Of course everytime you access your wallet, you are potentially exposed and need to be very cautious. e.g. don't copy/paste your entire private key and be very careful about keyloggers.

Yeah, which is why Bitcoin is more of a "storing value" coin right now ("gold")

Any of them are good starter coins. But if you don't have much money to invest, ETH is probably the one that has good return potential.

All of them have unreal potential to get you good returns, but ETH is still pretty damn low for what it could eventually be in 2 years.

Anyone buying right now for the first time might want to wait for a correction. All of the coins are getting pumped hard, so there's a good chance we'll see a slight correction downward soon.

200/8,200 = X/500,000

ETH has to complete network confirmations before it goes into your account. Usually like 60 confirmations. You can see how many are done by clicking the pending transaction.
