We are in boom times but for retailers with actual physical stores it's been a recession since the late 90's to the point they have just gotten used to the decline. Especially malls. Yesterday's black Friday isn't even as big as the average Friday 20 years ago. Actual black Friday at the mall back then, people were parking in the grass and even walking long distances to the mall because it would be so packed. The weekend today isn't even as busy as the mid-day weekday crowd was back then.

Not gone yet, but on their way... TCBY. 20 years ago, these were all over the place as well as their frozen yogurt competitors. Frozen yogurt was a fad then. Now? Not so much.
15 years ago, they had almost 1800 stores across the country. Today, that's down to about 350 stores.

We talking individual stores or corporates/ chains?
I miss seeing:
- mom & pop video stores with a couple of arcade games machines up front
- newsagencies where you would go to sneak a peek at Penthouse and playboys; buy gum and a can of coke
- delicatessens to try some of that there salamis (strong no homo) that the owners loved giving kids
- toy stores that likes kids to play in them
- local pizza shop run by an old italian couple and their kids
Most of these have been moved to corporates or have become extinct due to changes in technology. I pity kids and the millennials who grew up, or will grow up on technology.
