I had the omega speedmaster professional for a few weeks, but its poverty unless you sit in an office all day or dont do anything active.
brb have to wind it manually every 12-24 hours, brb non crystal face so it scratches so easily, brb not even properly waterproof. brb fragile as ****.


So I exchanged it for the Omega Seamaster Professional 300 co-axial chronograph (Red/black/silver one) its hnngh. I really like it. Its more than your budget though.

I quite like the Breitling Avenger and the Green Rolex Submariner too

Agree wit lexbrah. I also have a seamaster professional chronograph and love it as also within the budget (can be had for 26-2900 if you shop around). It's a sporty watch you can wear dressed up or down. Other suggestions would be like what others have said, a speedmaster is another good option.

A watch is the only acceptable form of j ewellery for a man (apart from wedding ring). You assume people who enjoy watches only buy expensive watches to appear wealthy, do you also say the same about people who love cars and buy nice cars as well? People who buy a nice suit over one off the rack?

Im not defending the autist at all, he probably does want a watch to appear wealthy, but not the point, I just hear the same thing all the time about people who dont get watches and that anyone who has a nice one must be a try hard for some reason.

People that buy higher end watches (typically not $3k) do it for several reasons.
Its an expression of your personality and what you like. Similar to wearing $89 chinos vs $5 garage sale pants. Both function the same but the more expensive one might have better material or a better cut.
With an expensive watch, they typically last longer than your average $200 movement. They also gain value with age (if purchased properly) and its also a way to connect with other people in the business world that are into watches.

Even though you are not a "watch person" im sure you could appreciate the time and precision it takes to make a beautiful timepiece to last for ages (passed down from generation to generation)

Things become "obsolete" when the market dictates its no longer necessary. The watch market is alive and strong. Sure some people are try hards and only just buy to show off. For me, my father appreciated watches and he taught me about them at a young age. When he died he passed his most prized watches to my brother and I. I guess I picked up my love for watches because I was influenced. But thats everything in life right?

I just appreciate things that are well made and can stand the test of time. When I remodeled my bathroom last year, I paid 10x what normal faucets would cost at home depot for some high quality faucets. Trust me, its not to "floss".....nobody ever comes into my master bath but my wife and kids. It just feels nicer, the valves shut tighter, the water flows out softer, its easier to control the temp on the valve and I am sure they will last much longer than the home depot brand.
