What are your predictions for the end of 2018?
I'm taking a rather conservative estimate at $33,000. This is based on BTC reaching almost 1/10th of the market cap of Gold by then. It could also go exponential and reach 6 digits, and I think that's a very real possibility, but I like to keep my estimates on the conservative side so that when BTC outdoes itself (like it always does) I have more to celebrate.
Also, I'm headed to bed now. Whenever I go to bed we always see the biggest price jumps.. inb4 I wake up tomorrow and it's already $18K.

They are stabilizing the price, making sure that it continues to have value. They just removed 55 Billion of supply which is a great thing.
I'm still kind of uncertain at to this investment value of ripple though. I can't see them having an interest in the price of ripple going up 100x%. They are really just trying to create stability and certainty, much like a fiat currency. So I wouldn't expect to 100x on ripple now.

They're pretty much neck and neck now on terms of market cap after announcement, I think Ripple might overtake IOTA tonight if it continues to bottom like it's doing now or if BTC Chad pulls his big d*ck out again.
IOTA will regain it's position somewhere in the future if this happens though.

Alt hodlers what are you guys doing now? Weathering the storm or FOMO'ing?
Death is impossible for us to fathom: it is so immense, so frightening, that we will do almost anything to avoid thinking about it. Society is organized to make death invisible, to keep it several steps removed. That distance may seem necessary for our comfort, but it comes with a terrible price: the illusion of limitless time, and a consequent lack of seriousness about daily life. We are running away from the one reality that faces us all.

It's just severely bogged down right now by public interest, a lack of public nodes, exchanges getting wrecked by BTC etc. so I wouldn't cast judgement on it right now for that purpose. It's undoubtedly slow as sh*t right now. It's an interesting argument, are they both trying to achieve the same thing? On terms of application, I doubt Ripple offers the same IoT functionality that has big business locked in and they occupy different niches.

I'm just holding out and not looking at sats. That is literally the worst thing you can do, and too many people focus on sats. It makes far more sense overall to focus on the actual dollar value, but many in here seem to disagree. Back in August, my BTC value was about 5X what my portfolio is now, but my USD has remained about the same and increased a few days ago until this bloodbath.

I'm just pissed I missed the 4k BTC rise since this morning and a chance to have almost doubled my stacks. Maybe I need to make some ballsier moves. I should have learned from the last two times this happened.

Never got the sats thing either. In theory I could have invested my money into a Weenie Stand, I'm not interested to know the value of my money had I invested in the Weenie Stand instead.

If you wanted to measure the distance you ran from your house, you wouldn't choose a car going alongside you as your reference, you'd choose your house (i.e. USD).
People justify it by saying if you aren't up in sats trading alts it'd have just been better to stay in BTC. The end goal is USD accumulation, not sat accumulation and the two are not mutually inclusive over infinite time.

I'm also against the SAT investing. It's like stock investors pegging their gains against how AAPL performs.
BTC is its own crypto. Now if there were a crypto index fund, then yeah you could say "you would have made more if you stayed in the crypto index fund", just like you would say "you would have made more just staying in the SPY 500 fund"

But over infinite time, it is impossible to know. E.g If you're playing roulette and win 10K USD a hundred times in a row it doesn't mean your 101th attempt will also net you 10K USD, so you shouldn't measure you profits in roulette spins but in how much USD you made.says you.

What myfacewhen said is a paradox - if BTC moons to 100K you care about the 100K, not your satoshis.
Also, what KillahJon said above ^
