Since its opening this week, lets have a thread about it. Use spoiler tags to those who will see it sooner than the others. I will watch it in IMAX with my dad, gf and cousin. Dad brought me Return of the Jedi in the cinemas back when I was a kid. I hardly remember much til I watched it again in betamax. But now, its my turn bringing him.
Reviews wont be out til Tuesday. But initial reactions are out. Its super positive, but then again, so were initial reactions to bvs, suicide squad and justice league. This aint dc though thankfully.
Here are some initial reactions from critics:

Basically, most are saying its the best since EMPIRE STRIKES BACK. And all are saying AVOID SPOILERS at all cost cuz theres some major things happening.

A lot of the initial reactions for The Force Awakens were claiming it to be the best since Empire but now ppl are criticising it for following A New Hope.
Still going to watch The Last Jedi though. Rian Johnson is writing and directing. It must be good.

Gonna see it. Only film per year I see in theaters now. Sending warm thoughts to the baby JC they take it easy on the disney-fication on it. The furry gopher penguin pic is my nightmare fuel.
edit: Turns out Rey is a joy to watch, emotive, interesting. rogue 1 lady has less personality than the robot saudi citizen.

Outside of a protagonist switch (Rei becomes the villain and Kylo becomes the hero, which I would applaud them for having the balls to try) I don't really see what they could do that would be that surprsing. Hyped to go see it but I can't imagine Disney stepping to far away from the hollywood formula

So at the moment the Han Solo movie is scheduled to come out this May. Really, really hope they push it to Christmas. These Star Wars flicks are now starting to feel like an Xmas-associated event.
Always hated how they moved Harry Potter movies from Xmas time to summer releases

Guys, be careful in Twitter. I read in another forums that there are spoilers going around, like Snoke's identity. Not sure if its real info or not, but better not know.

Doubt they'll have the bawls to turn Rey evil.
I hear there is a gay scene between Rey and Finn though, where she keeps saying 'don't stop!' and 'harder!' without realizing how powerful her mind control powers are and Finn is stuck mind controlled into plowing her until that fatal 4 hour erection makes him one with the force as he busts all over a fox of some kind:

Be careful bros. I was on the star wars section of reddit and there are a few threads saying that someone is going around with spoilers and its something you do NOT want to read because it will ruin what happens for you. I logged straight the **** off after one of the threads is saying that they got tricked because a section was mis-titled on purpose and it was actually a spoiler.
Das not et mayne. Spoilers are out. You've been warned

Official reviews very soon. But here is one audience/fan review and a respected poster from the Blu-ray forums:
I saw The Last Jedi.
- I loved it, thought it outdid The Force Awakens in every way (I also loved TFA).
- Luke is the best part of the movie, but I expect plenty of people to be upset (at least initially) with his character. However you think his story is going to go is probably wrong.
- Leia is fantastic. I thought she was a weak spot of TFA, but she really shines here. She's warm and badass and funny.
- BB-8 isn't in this one as much, sadly... but he does get a few standout moments. He's a little badass this time around.
- New characters like Rose and Holdo are good. Both will become fan-favorites. Benicio del Toro was intriguing.
- The movie isn't as much of a "redo" of Empire as TFA was of A New Hope. It's mostly fresh. However... The Last Jedi has elements of [Show spoiler] and [Show spoiler] . These elements are extremely obvious.
- Lots of fan service but not in an obnoxious or cheap pandering way. It's the good kind of fan service, supporting of the story, and not overdone.
- Cinematography is gorgeous. Best looking Star Wars movie so far.
- The movie is simultaneously very serious but also the funniest Star Wars movie ever. It works.
- Hardcore fans and fans of the Star Wars mythology will get a lot out of this one. This one is big for the ongoing saga.
- Do yourself a favor and avoid spoilers. There are some big shockers and turns in this one that you won't want ruined.
I went in clean, thankfully, and there was one moment that was an actual jaw dropper. I can't remember the last time that happened. It would have had less impact if I knew it was coming.
There are some big developments of the story and universe in this one. I think a lot of it will be controversial, but a lot of it should lay to rest some of the "Disney is just copy and pasting the old trilogy and not taking chances" critiques I've seen online since 2015.
I'd say The Last Jedi is even more bold than Empire. Empire is the better movie and is (and will always be, at least for me) the best Star Wars movie. It just can't be topped. But The Last Jedi takes some roads I think most people aren't expecting a PG-13 Disney Star Wars movie to take.
I'm thrilled with it and can't wait to see it again. Going with a 5/5 when the poll is up.

9.7 in IGN
http://www.ign.com/articles/2017/12/...i-review?watch
Star Wars: The Last Jedi is the quintessential Star Wars movie. It embraces everything in the franchise that came before while taking big risks to push the story into new and unexpected places. While there are a few subplots that weigh it down in the middle, everything ultimately works toward delivering an absolutely stunning sequence of events that make its emotionally rich ending a possibility. It’s dramatic, it’s exciting, it’s heartfelt, it’s heartbreaking, and it’s funnier than any Star Wars movie has any right to be. It doesn’t answer every lingering fan question but it darn well delivers on the ones it chooses to address, ending things on a satisfying note even though there’s one more chapter in this trilogy. And on top of all that, the final scene bucks all Star Wars trends, yet it works because it’s reflective of what makes the saga as a whole so special.
