Saw it today. It was okay, but not nothing special.
OP is right, but it does not feel that forced.

Spoiler!
Diversity didn't feel that forced, but with them having to check all gender and races each scenes there was not much space left for Aliens.

Purple-haired sloot annoyed me and so did her death. If one can just ram other ships at relativistic speeds to penetrate their shields, why not make some drones or man those ships with kamikaze droids?

I like Kylo Ren as a character. He is the only character so far with an actual backstory and real motivations. (It doesn't make sense he lost to Rey and Finn though.) Him going main bad guy mode was also quite unpredictable.

Rey wasn't as Mary Suish this movie. Shure she is still a prodigy, but she looked rather helpless when fighting Snoke.

Snoke? Just lol at this guy. Big bad dude came out of nowhere and now died woithout reason or explanation.

Im just seriously confused about where Disney is going with this.

Its like they don't know what they want to do with Star Wars. They introduce characters, dont explain who they are what is their purpose them kill them off.

Disney is doing a TERRIBLE job at character development. There is not a single character that any of you can truly say that you know their purpose or back story

Probably one of the worst movies I've seen in a few years. Only entertaining part was watching luke drink milk out of some weird alien's balls. Absolutely lost it at Leia pulling a DBZ move in space and got shushed by everyone around me lmao

EA killed star wars games and Disney killed star wars movies. Seeing this makes me want to read the old school legends now tho. Since this is a spoiler thread, I'm not putting this in spoiler blocks

The good:
- poe is ****ing gangster with his piloting (zero chance he's not force sensitive since he grew up next to a force tree)
- sound effects of kylos light saber
- Luke's 5 second OP force powers

The bad:
- Luke's 5 second op force powers. Really? Luke can take down star destroyers with his hand while supposedly flying in space and you juSt show him projecting himself to another planet then dying? Yeah, it shows how strong he is but his fans were expecting more
- turning legends into clumsy old man. Luke is a Jedi master but lost a spar session to rey? Because he couldn't sense a ****ing step. He also lost to ren too? He lost to ren pre-episode 7 so you know that he really was a pussy. The man who defeated Darth sidious and vader.
- unneeded story. Why the Asian girl kiss.finn? That was completely unneeded. Lol at the Asian girls quote saying, 'we don't win wars fighting the enemy but by protecting those we love' and then the bases doors get blown the **** open. The asian girl was completely unneeded.
- no sense of direction for future movies. The big bad villian is dead and we're left with an angry teenager. By default the next movie can't be exciting. Unless they drop it with major cliff hangers.
- they killed off major players for no good reason. Snook was confirmed to be WAY stronger than Darth Vader and sidious but he couldn't sense the light saber being rotated? Luke Skywalker seriously died after that? I understand wanting to create a shock factor but killing snook like that leaves me thinking that there's nothing left for the next movie.
- too much girl power. Literally the first 1.5 hrs of the movie was the girls keeping the men in check. So much so that my girlfriend even noticed it. Why not have them work together without dick measuring.

There's so much more to complain about but I'm typing in mobile. I'm surprised that this movie got good reviews tbh. It's NOT bad movie the. But it's not a good movie . It's an okay movie.

In a sense it's great that they've been going the different director each movie route and that seemed to be the intention but the problem with that is JJ left these mystery boxes then Rian took over for Episode and it seemed he didn't know how to answer those. Now as one of the posters above have mentioned it seems like Episode 8 has abruptly ended a lot of arcs/plots leaving Episode IX very little room to go. I can imagine why ****n had trouble with writing for Episode IX since it's been known he rewrote multiple drafts. I can imagine JJ having trouble for Episode IX too. To me it's going to be very interesting how JJ concludes this sequel trilogy since a lot of it kind of already did with Last Jedi(felt like a mixture of Empire Strikes back and Return of the Jedi).

Massive Star Wars fan,

This is one of the worst of them. Srs. It’s worth watching it just to see how badly DISNEY dropped the ball.

I actually really enjoyed Rogue One. This is nothing like it.


Plot: nonsensical. Literally 10 plots leading to no where, jumping around, incessant flip flopping, characters with no backstory appearing that were supposed to care about

Random bullchit list:

-ZERO and I mean ZERO alien races. Maybe 1-2 you’ll see but all crews are human.

-ARCing laser beams as if there is gravity during space battles

-political correct nonsense: I’m not one to look for these themes, but it’s painfully PAINFULLY heavy handed, animal rights, diversity feminism ETC all COMMONLY brought up.

-they write off the old school canon to appease the older generations, and then brutally and embarassingly try to write their own for the new generation.

-CHEESY ass dialogue, cringe moments (first 10 minutes of the movie you actually wonder if it’s a spoof), completely nonsensical plot line and character actions.


I can go on and on but I’m triggered so hard right now..

It was actually tiring at times to follow, seemed like the same bullchit was going on over and over back and forth and just when you think it’s gonna end it keeps going.

This feels like one gigantic Star Wars Toys’R’us battlefront commercial

Nevermind that she actually didn't share her plan with anyone so there was no reason to trust her, he should just have done so by default (there's a line about this in ep 7 too, "women always find out the truth").

The movies are constantly implying that women are wiser than men. Poe is referred to as impulsive and as making stupid decisions, and looks guilty at the end like he made a mistake by not trusting her instead of saying "WELL WHY THE FUK DIDNT YOU SHARE THIS PLAN EARLIER WHEN I ASKED YOU STUPID BISH?". Same thing with the asian bish who stops Finn from destroying the big ass cannon at the end.

Kylo is actually getting good character development but other than that it's horrible... Luke is even going backwards, they completely changed his personality.

He tried to get Rey (obviously) but she turned him down. No known apprentice for now but we've heard about him leaving with some kids from Luke's school and there's been references to "the Knights of Ren", so maybe there are secret ones.

Yeah they just had to make her the huge fuking hero too. Couldn't they at least let Admiral Ackbar do that considering he's supposed to be a brilliant fleet commander? don't be surprised if all of that gets abandoned with GL out, but then again there's another movie to go. And then don't be surprised for the next "secret apprentice" for the NEXT movie after 9 once they realize they left that out and need to make a villain out of nothing

but I miss the prequels. Sheesh I so wanted Anakin Skywalker to make an appearance in this movie. I so rather watch Anakin kicking butt than that Rey idiot.

I think they don't have a real plan on purpose.
It seems like they try to look at the reception by fans and critics before deciding what they do with characters like writing them backgrounds or just offing them.

Saw it last night, and while I have problems with a couple of things, I had a LOT of fun.



the one thing that sticks with me is how heavy handed the story line involving Rose came across, it struck me as very "disney" and unnecessary




otherwise, it was a Star Wars movie with excellent visuals and sounds, always makes me feel like a kid again
