At least this has been my experience in having visited poorer parts India and SEA.
This is the main reason I want to travel to more poorer places when I get older, to see the world in a different light

Only problem is, that 3st world countries aren't that great on personal safety, if you come as foreigner wearing a pair of new sneakers, chances are you'll get raped and murdered, not necessarily in that order.

To develop an idea of the world that is closer to reality rather than pretending to know. Dare to explore and understand the world in order to cultivate a better relationship with yourself and people around you. Learn to appreciate the world we live in and understand that the 9-5 grind isn't a grind compared to the rest of the world. See someone close to death because they don't have access to clean water so you can go back and take a nice **** into 5 gallons of it. Start to understand that the reason you believe what you do is closely tied to the culture that you were raised in, and that there are many different approaches to life.

Not that important though. Get ****faced and take a few selfies. Just as enriching

Sounds like you are boring. Go back to traveling to your basic b*tch destinations like Paris or Los Angeles LMAO.
Oh no, a huge ******* on the misc thinks I'm boring. I'd honestly rather go away to places I haven't visited yet in the UK than go abroad. These people who 'travel' usually have no connection to their own culture and often they despise it and themselves while glorifying these poor, chitty cultures. But you, you're so deep brah, you must have really opened your mind and found yourself. LMAO!

Human development index map. Do you see the difference? Plus Eastern Europe has a much richer history than SE Asia.

GL with your vacations in stupid overused destinations with no real history (Amsterdan and Paris for example).

Just LOL if you think SE Asia is not one of the GOATspots to visit.

If I could travel anywhere, I'd like to visit the sites of various WW2 battles and monuments, etc, such as Normandy beaches, pavlov's house, statue of mother russia, various tombs of the unknowns, etc.

IDK it just seems...important to see them in a sense...to pay my respects I guess or to be mindful of the sacrifices people made there so the world could be what it is now.

There is some truth to that. If you look at the people that have next to nothing (and not starving) based on their smiles alone they seem some of the happiest people. Goes to show, all this crap we have is not necessary and those people prove it.

its unfortunate that OP doesn't have the luxury of travelling lol

The best part is you can put 'globetrotter' or 'wanderlust' in your insta bio and then when you come back act better than the uncultured swine that don't travel (if you want to be smarter than tell them you saw all seasons of Rick and Morty on the plane rides)
Ded. I love to travel but agreed, the general demeanor of someone who "Travels" is a huge turn off. Brb world emoji next to plane emoji on instagram bio. I do believe it absolutely enriches your life, adds to your perspective etc. but the attitude a lot of younger people have once they visit Europe or Asia (as an Ameribrah) is insufferable.
