Speaking of .22 talk, I've been saying I was going to get something for my daughter. I have some time to figure out what to get, we're in the delivery room today, I still want to find something.

I'll provably build her an AR too for later while they're inexpensive.

FIL and his wife are here. FIL is a "gun guy" with a carry license (don't think he's ever carried), can never handle a gun with finger off the trigger (coincidentally only likes pistols with a manual safety), always talks negatively of 9mm and what the big old .45 will do (that he never carries), they keep telling us we don't need to lock the doors to the house nobody is going to come get us, his wife says you wouldn't like our house we leave the door unlocked all the time, "we don't have break ins in our neighborhood", talks about the home defense gun he keeps loaded in the bedroom, it's just like...WTF.

They just left for a couple hours, didn't take a house key with them, giving me a slightly hard time about how I wanted to lock the door while they were gone. Yes dumb ****, I'm locking my front door because I'm not retarded

LOL'ed a bit. Only because I hear the same kind of nonsense from self proclaimed "gun-guys" all the time.

I have a couple friends with carry licenses that argue with me every time I suggest they get some training. "Nah man, I'm good. Maybe I can't shoot like YOU, but I hit the target just fine." Because shooting two magazines a year at 3 yards in a static environment is definitely all you need...

And don't get me started on the .45 guys. All decent defense ammo 9mm and up performs pretty close in a pistol. The vast majority of people survive gunshot wounds from a handgun. Shot placement > everything.

Funny story sounds like an enjoyable weekend....and the fact they live up here is the REAL wtf. The roving bands of thugs travel everywhere now. They *Usually don't randomly break into homes mid day (that's more the tweakers gig) but usually steal high end cars from affluent areas use them for quick crime sprees / drive by shootings and dump the car. I'd lock it and let them knock when they came back like the convo never happened.

Yeah, I locked it, the comment from his wife about "nobody is going to come get you" were because, gasp, I had to get up and go to the front door and unlock it for them. I guess she didn't believe I was actually going to lock the door when they got in their car and drove away to go here and there for an hour or three.

Right.

Texting with my sister up here. They are getting ready to go on a road trip to the Dells. She has a giant gash out of her sidewall of the tire. I tell her to take it in and get a new tire, because it can't be fixed (she sent me a picture with a pen tip for reference). She takes it in and the tire guy says "oh that's just "cosmetic"oh that outside layer of the sidewall is just for aesthetics. Asked her if he was wearing his underwear on the outside of his pants by chance and had crayon stains on his teeth because I'm pretty sure he's fukin retarded. Maybe ask for a second opinion by someone that works at a tire shop and is qualified to LOOK at a tire...

People SMH.

But the next person that comes in with 50% tread wear will probably be told they need new tires because those are shot.

I often wonder how much money companies lose because they have employees who work for them that turn business away doing stuff like that. Gash in sidewall? Nah. You're good. We're not here to sell tires and make money.

On a tire note, I'm pretty damn impressed with the tires on my wifes Highlander. Those things are going on almost 70K miles and still have decent tread, no signs of cracking from UV or anything, very even wear. I think they're only 50K or 60K rated tires. Granted she has never, ever missed a rotation, but 70K on any set of tires is great in my book. Michelin I believe.

Yea I was surprised but thinking they were probably just not wanting to pull it in and put it on the lift for a single tire instead of a set or at least a pair (her Sienna only has 20k or something so rest of the tires are good).

I've noticed the same thing with Michelin tires. They wear forever. The BFGs I put on my 4Runner were the first non Michelin tires I've bought in a long time. Michelins are expensive, but you get it back when they last way past the competition.

This. Lot of Jewish people in that area if I remember right, to the most expensive, but nice area for sure

Tire wear is not something dependent on the brand, it is based on the compound more than anything. Sure cheap tires have wear issues, etc but a snow tire is going to wear faster than a regular tire. Or the mud tires on my truck will last forever because they are hard and have a ton of tread. I've always bought tires based on traction and nothing else. Tires on my GTO are great for dry/wet roads and terrible for cold weather because I never drive I think in those conditions. Set of mud tires for non winter conditions (they are **** in snow), and AT tires that are awesome in snow/ice.

My back tires were slipping from a stop earlier and there was only a slight mist on the ground, I was barely touching the gas, tires are in good shape. Maybe it was the hemi..
