Coinbase will surely have issues again if ever Ripple get added.
Best way to do for those who want to sell and cash-out is move it to USDT on whatever exchange they are at. Then when everything settled down in coinbase, convert USDT to ETH and send it to coinbase to cash-out.

Ye, I buy specific amounts of BTC/ETH each time and then immediately transfer that exact amount to another exchange for a altcoin. So I can easily specify the lots, but I wonder if I'll still be screwed with FIFO or not.

https://www.coindesk.com/uncle-sams-...pto-investors/

"Yet, even if it does stay on the bill, there's some good news on the FIFO front, according to Deloitte's Calvin.

For one, the provision only applies account-by-account, meaning that if the oldest bitcoins an individual owns are stored in a separate account from the bitcoins they want to sell or better yet, outside of an exchange account altogether, the rule does not apply.

"If you sell bitcoin (in 2018), you’re going to be treated as selling the first one that you bought," Calvin said. "So, take it off the exchange, hold it directly and when you want to sell one, you can deliver the one you want to sell.""
If you buy ETH immediately transfer to an exchange and buy an Altcoin technically it's a taxable event. However the likely hood of a gain/loss on the transaction is minor. Even if there was it's minute. I wouldnt bother with that.

The problem would be when you transfer ETH and buy an altcoin on an exchange. Then the following day transfer ETH again and buy the same alt coin. If that Alt coin is stored with the alt coin you bought the day before you can't prove which is which. You would have to use FIFO.

Ye, so I guess you bought LTC/BTC and then deposited it to another exchange to buy ADA. Did you have original BTC/LTC sitting in the same account?

My Coinbase report is completely wrong.

Why does coinbase give you the option to use FIFO or LIFO on their tax report?

Can someone please confirm this for me. From my understanding in 2017 if someone deposited money into crypto but did NOT use any coins to make a purchase for goods and did NOT convert back into FIAT....then they do not have to report gains? I realize for 2018 this will change with each event being taxable but for 2017 you only pay capital gains tax on realized profit (ie cashed out)

is that correct?

Can anybody tell me if im interpreting this buy/sell wall correctly?

Basically ive been under the impression because there is like less than a BTC for each buy price and a fk ton of sell orders above 1 BTC does that mean the price will go down? Is that how i interpret this?

Meanwhile the next Asian moon mission is coming up. New protocol, multiple partnerships. Hasn't been shilled anywhere, yet up 40% on one tiny asian exchange, smart money is accumulating. Still below $100m. Reminds me of early stage neo, icon, walton. I expect you guys will only wake up when it's approaching 1b and fomo kicks in and you ride it to 1.1b fking LOL
I posted this on 27 Dec, price was like $70m. Gave you guys a huge headstart as the 4chan shilling didn't start until like 31dec onwards.

Now well past $300m, already surpassed Walton, you did buy right?

go get the app, then go to your general settings and under device management trust the Hunan ****ui Tech whatever. it should show the app now. it's not listed on the american iOS store so its possible a software update requires you to redownload and trust, or apple could break it at any time. but i've had mine running for a couple weeks without issue.

i almost stuck 500-1000 at 37 cents based on crownbrahs advice.

i would have cashed out by now.

it can depend on how much you have though. id be looking to spread those gains somewhere else. getting another 2X (which would make your total 6X) would be juicy as opposed to hoping xlm 4 times

im not saying xlm could go either way. i just think your pushing your luck hoping something 15X

I'm in the exact same situation. From what I heard when Fairx gets going it will be huge for XLM. This is only the beginning, hodl tight.
