But to answer your post, the market is 50% down from it's ATH but we are actually still up on a monthly average marketcap measure this month than December.
Dec average is $484B and this month, we are still at $714B due to high cap early January. So the global market cap is not really down if you look at it month by month.

A lot of people are down because they bought in during the ATH but there are still a lot here who are in this way early and are still up.

I know brah but I was referring to US based exchanges.

I've said it before but I'll say it again. Think it's about time I walk away for a month or two and delete all my crypto apps. Figures that I was forced to sit on the sidelines and watch this incredible bull-run without any money to put in the game, and the second I throw in $3000 my entire portfolio plunges 60% along with the market. Just my luck in life. I knew this crypto run was too good to be true and life-changing things like that don't happen for me. Turns out I was right.

you sound pessimistic. Sounds like you're new to investing. Chit happens. Volatility is driving all of us to crypto. Fuk 10% stock market gains over the entire fukin year.

Bro, cryto is very early. Yes you fuked up by jumping into crypto before doing your due diligence, but the best thing you can do now is learn and adjust. This is the time to be doing research on new projects so when the market picks up you have the capital to invest in potential gems. This isnt the time to be giving up. Stop focusing on the price and start doing more research on the tech.

So it's down 50% for you. What I'd do is hold and wait. It will come up. We are still in the early stage bro. Unless you sold already at a loss.

I spent like 2 months obsessively researching the entire space before I had the money to go in deep. I invested in 3 projects that I deeply researched by reading their entire white papers, analyzing their websites, marketing, the whole thing. I don't have any more capital to put in. 100% of what I can put in this year is already in. The only way I can invest in other projects is for my bags to break even and sell off for others.

Never selling at a loss crew. That's why I said I think it's time for me to just walk away for a couple months and wait for the market to pick back up.

My bro is in the same boat. He's not sweating it man, APPC cucked a lot of us and some of us were lucky enough to sell before it corrected hard. He's playing the hodl game and once the market starts to liven up again you'll be glad you hodl'd

I still believe you're ultimately right which is why I haven't cut my losses and sold. It's just hard to be positive when the second I buy in the market plunges, entire portfolio is down dramatically and there's no hope of breaking even for another month or two. I've gotta clock out for a minute.
I've got 383 coins, that I bought at 3.50$.... roughly 50% of my portfolio.
I have a big more than you but I purchased half at 3.50 and half at $1.25 or so to lower my average in price, so I am in slightly better shape.
Yes, they are only opening BTC and ETH next month.
I honestly don't know the details on how they will do that.
Maybe it will be clearer when we get there.

I'm just excited to know that Coinbase will not be the only choice for a US based crypto exchange.
I really think it will be a good competition. So that alone will benefit all of us indirectly even though some of us are happy with coinbase.
And only in a few states, but yea competition will be good.

Relax brah. I had my portfolio go from $30k back in June to $4k in July during the crash and by September it broke 6 figures. This is all part of the game. You can't have the highs without the lows. Just be patient and take a break.

Edit: Just make sure you're not doing too much during down times (selling at losses to chase pumps). That's how I got rekt last year.

no worries. I had the same exact thoughts. I thought it was too late too. I put in a lot of money at all time high in spring/summer 2017. ETH almost 400, BTC like 3k or something.
Market tanked and sucked for so long with China fud, i just kept adding more and more money everyday....Now i'm up a ton. I was actually glad that we tanked, cause i was able to keep putting in more money for super cheap coins.

i just read that you put in 100%. You have no income to dollar cost average? Don't worry too much.

there has been no easy money sincethe first week of January. All the coins, with the exception of a select few, are off their ath's by 20%-80%.

For someone who entered 2 weeks ago, losses are very likely. That's why I'm staying out till it's stupid easy money time.

Bruh, I've posted this a million times, but I'll post a shortened version again. I put in $10k in May. Watched it fall to $6k in June. Deleted apps and sites for 6 months. Came back to insane gains. The coins you invested in aren't going anywhere, as in disappearing, so chill. The waiting game is fukkin hard, especially when you have your money on the line, but it's worth it. Chit I bought stocks in 2007 thinking I had solid investments. then 2008 happened... I just stepped away from stocks altogether, and 6 years later everything was at least doubled...

Lol yeah I think we both came in around the same time. I put in the same as you and got rekt hard in June/July. Think you stepped away too long though lol. August was booming.

Stop focusing on the price and start doing more research on the tech.
oh ffs in a bull market the tech means nothing. Brb investigating the tech on Linda, great coin, 5x gains, love you long time.

This market is all about timing.

ACH isn't instant, 2-4 days, the tech doesn't allow it instantly as far as I know. Wire transfer isn't instant either but gets done pretty quickly, usually hours but your bank will charge a wire fee regardless of where it is going, so I don't see how Robinhood is going to do free instant transfers unless it is credit card, was payment method mentioned? I was under the impression it was wire transfers which you will be hit with a fee from your bank, maybe they are just stating they wont charge additional fees. So I fail to see a real difference here from GDAX in respect to fees, which is why I was asking if I was missing something.

And don't get me wrong, I am very much in favor of more coins and easier entry for more to the market, it will help crypto as a whole, I just don't see any benefits to me personally unless the user interface is simply better than GDAX. It also gives Coinbase/GDAX some incentive to get more coins sooner than later if they competition coming, but by the looks of things it's a long ways off from Robinhood allowing trading on numerous coins for most US residents.
Anything up to $1,000 is done on margin (kinda). If you give instructions to purchase an asset (stock, etf, coin) with money from your bank account, Robinhood will initiate the transfer from your bank and basically buy the asset for you with their money while they wait for your transfer to complete and they take control of the funds to repay themselves.
