But seriously, yes, thats the main reason why I'm down on USD and up on BTC value.

I havent looked into it.. Just thinking..
Everything ive read said wall street wanted btc lower. As soon as they get in weve dropped 50%
No idea what bottom would be for them but 5k seems a good #. Anything below that seems paychological tortue and will turn people off crypto (that were in it at least)
Then youve got this supposed yearly market dip in january which makes me feel better and like it will rebound like old
But im not sure if wall street is controlling btc well ever see that volatility again

Can someone explain why BTC pairs are almost always up higher in % than ETH pairs?
On Bittrex
BTC/NEO = -1.6% ETH/NEO = -4.1%
BTC/XLM = +5.8% ETH/XLM = +3.2%
Etc
Etc
That's why I have never done a ETH pair. BTC pair seems to always out perform ETH pairs.
Granted I could be missing something obvious.

Who was the brah that made a de facto ETF with the top 100 CMC coins a few months back? Autumnal? I would be interested to see if that blended out enough to offset some of the heavier bleeders, or if the red was a pretty consistent range across all coins.

This is exactly like assuming VEN was the new store of value bc its USD value increased while BTC tanked. Look where it is now. Still measured in SATs. Yes obviously ETH vs VEN is different because trading pairs and notoriety sure but one small ETH take off while BTC drops doesn't mean boom that's it, we're measuring all ETH in USD now. It needs to become thestore of value first.Possible? Yes. Happened? no.
and you know what the difference between you and I clearly is? When I didn't know how tether worked, I humbly inquired. That's how you learn. It doesn't make me feel dumb that you are literally making fun of the fact that I know when to ask questions to increase my own knowledge base.
I hope when all this is said and done we'll still be brahs, but I think we should just ignore each other for a bit and let the dust settle.
I don't doubt your methods brother.
I think considering both can be important.

Only china can save us now. It's all in your tiny hands. US brahs have reached buyer's exhaustion and we desperately need an asian pump. If not, I think we're going to find new lows today.

At least for me, it doesn't mean anything. It is a store of value now being the 1st one and the biggest cap. But it actually ends there.
I think the main factor is adaptability, usability and scalability. And BTC being the oldest tech has a lot more to do to keep up with new platforms. That should be the driving factor for BTC than just being a store of value to last.
ETH has been processing transactions based on (24Hrs volume) more than 3x that of BTC for a while now.

Actually as of today, XRP has been processing the highest txns which is kind of surprising.
I didn't include it in the graph but they have about 979k 24hr txns to date.
So the point is, more and more platforms, dApps are being developed under the ETH platform and if that goes on, it will increase the txns more and will just increase ETH's value.
So even if BTC stays as the store of value, it doesn't really matter if their prices are as unstable as this.
I'm not a market analyst and I dont think you need to be one for this. This is just plain supply and demand for now.

Where do you reckon this pump is taking it? Rebrands are usually bad news, as are new exchanges, right? Binance is right around the corner, I'm guessing.

I'm very, very open to hearing arguments other than "It's clearly more important for USD now!" with no backing in logic or sources.
If I end up being wrong, then I'm sure to be right. If someone wants to step in for you and actually defend your 'point', then I'd be happy to hear it.
In fact I'm messaging a few people now to discuss it more.

However, I still like what you're saying, and will deeply consider as I could see more of a flippening happening - but as pseudo investors so to speak, we must still adhere to the current highest market cap and store of value, which is BTC.
There is no thing without nothing.

this is very important, and why it's hilarious that people are measuring their portfolios in sats when BTC has been dying a slow death for months
your XXX/BTC pairs APPEAR to be doing better, because you're measuring the strength of XXX against a weakening BTC rather than against ETH which has held it's value quite well comparatively
think about the ratios like this: if XLM/ETH is green, then you've been better off holding XLM over ETH; but if XLM/ETH is red, then this was a poor trade because you should've just held onto your ETH instead
this is a very fundamental aspect to markets and you should make sure you understand this moving forward; in fact, it is the very basis to forex, e.g. in USD/JPY you are measuring the strength of the US dollar to that of the japanese yen

Measuring gains vs btc is beyond retarded. Its all about the dollar value. The only time to measure gains vs sats is if btc is pumping because its a way to see if you are trading badly.
If btc is pumping and you go up in dollar but down in sats this means you wouldve been better off just holding btc because your overall dollar value would have been higher had you done so.
If btc is dumping and you go up in sats but down in dollars this means you wouldve been better off selling everything to fiat because your overall dollar value would have been higher had you done so.
This is the only way to measure and anything else is pure delusion and cope.

Not everyone believes BTC is "king" or the "store of value". BTC is only a "store of value" because it failed as a currency.
If you want to cash out in a year, will you set a fiat target(10mil USD), or BTC target?
