lol at anyone who was in PoWHcoin, someone just broke the smart contract and stole 866eth... this is why you always do unit testing (also I think solidity sucks)

Brah, sorry if I missed your post, but how did the HPB UCLA thing go today?

Also, I'm a potato and emptied out some of my HPB at 77k sats and then the rest at 62k sats 2 days ago when BTC plumetted into the $9k's, HPB bounced hard as fk and I waited too long, got left behind.

Hopefully it dips one last time and doesn't pump from now until kucoin listing so I can get back in lol

Went good here's my quick thoughts
Conclusion - hold until at least end of Q1 when testnet is dropped. If the hardware can handle the TPS they are claiming dump everything you have into it.
Main net should be up Q2 but a solution like this is what alibaba for example is currently looking for
Was impressed by founder, CTO eh
Neo angel investor and ties confirmed
I will say though that the consensus algo they have is much better than EOS so just based on the market caps of each hpb should fly
At least in relation

edit - also forgot to put in that I got a free t shirt... so with that... dump everything you can into it.

Thanks for the update man. Feel a little more uneasy for not getting back in at 65k sats when I had the chance now lamo, got greedy.

Alright boyo's sorry to get off topic, but the more I think about this, the more I realize I still don't understand how it works.

I've been under the impression that when you bought an alt coin with BTC, that you essentially transferred whatever the USD worth of BTC is at the time of the alt coin purchase, to the alt coin, and then when you sell the alt coin for BTC, you transfer whatever $ amount you put into the alt coin +/- whatever gain/loss the alt coin underwent while you had your USD tied up in it. So for example:

BTC is worth $10,000

KCS is worth .0008 of a BTC or $8

So I've been under the impression that it worked like this:

I buy 1 BTC worth of KCS...so I transferred $10,000 to KCS. While my $10,000 is in KCS, the price of BTC drops to $5,000 and KCS stays at $8. Now in this scenario, I was under the impression that when I cashed out of KCS I would now receive 2 BTC's or $10,000 worth of BTC.

Here's where it starts not making sense to me. If the above were the case, then wouldn't you expect the price of KCSin terms of a % of BTCto double while though the price of KCS in terms of USDstays the same? But that doesn't seem to be what happens? People trade KCS as a % of BTC, and the price (as a % of BTC) is determined simply by what the last sell order to match up with a buy order was. It doesn't seem to me like the price if KCS as a % of BTC is constantly being recalculated in real time as the price of BTC waves up and down...or is it?

Or is the value of the alt coin actually coupled with BTC?

Example:

BTC worth $10,000.

I buy 1 BTC worth of KCS at .0008 or $8.

BTC drops to $5,000 while my money is in KCS (which stays the same price in terms of % of BTC...but I guess would have to drop to $4 in terms of USD).

I withdraw my money from KCS back to BTC.

I now own 1 BTC worth $5,000.

If this is how it works, it seems like it would make profiting off of alt coins (especially in terms of a day trading scenario) significantly trickier since you have to take into account the fluctuations of BTC in addition to the fluctuations of the alt coin.

I've jumped in a few the past couple of months just because I had some fiat and wanted to balance/spread a bit. These are <1% positions. And also holds.

That is exactly how it works, which is why you need to track the ratio instead of the total USD value in Blockfolio.

Easy example: if you invested 1 ETH in a coin and ETH stays at the same value, but your alt doubles in value, you'll get 2 ETH (- fee or w/e) out of it.

Works in the opposite way as well: if you invest 1 ETH in a coin and that coin stagnates while ETH goes bull, you lose out on the ratio. Which is what happened to me with ICX and VEN this week: both are having a massive dip, while ETH recovered quickly. So I won't sell untip my ratio recovers.

A lot of people are still promoting chitcoins and ICOs in the bear market?

Looking at Coinmarketcap, looks like the entire market is going down / red except for some 3rd Gen. projects like Ethereum and NEM.

BTW, a lot of Bitcoiners (despite HK's stock market booming) all think Chinese New Years = dump and then react accordingly. This is the time to buy all your favorite coins for cheap and then get rich a few months later.

Losing faith in ICX by the day. They said wait until mainnet launch for a token swap and private wallet. Then they said wait until the summit. Now they are saying wait until mid March.

They can't even communicate properly or put out a private wallet on time. As soon as it hits 100k sats, I'm dumping it all.

I should've sold during the conference.. its broken down on the upward wedge it was forming. It was supposed to bounce off the support and go high, not so sure it'll reach 100k any time soon.

lol at the fools here. Never sell at a loss on quality coins like ICX.

This is the leggitest strat: Hold till you win.

My examples:

-Bought XEM at 0.2. Held XEM from $0.25 to $0.16 over a 3 month period. It has now hit a $2 ATH
-Bought WTC at $1.2. Held WTC from $12 to $7 over a month. It has now hit a $50 ATH
-Bought ANS at $3.6. Held ANS from $8 to $5.6 over a month. It has now hit a $188 ATH
-Bought ETH at $75. Held ETH from $420 to $180 over a 2 month period. It has now hit a $1200 ATH
-Bought Strat at $8. Held Strat from $10 to $2.5 over a 5 month period. It has not hit a $20 ATH
-Bought KNC at $0.4. Held KNC from $2.5 to $1.3 over a 2-3 month period. It has now hit a $5 ATH

Selling at ATL = you actualizing your losses and getting cucked. Meanwhile hodlers get to dump their bags on your sorry ass when you buy back in later on.

The bold part is all you need my friend. Pretty solid.
