The thing to get out of this story is, a tight knit family is needed in order to have healthy children, live your life, and have a fulfilling career. I don't mean it like you FAs probably think. In a well off, multi-generation household, she could have had her kids at 30 and handled her career. Her parents could have cared for the child while she worked or went to school. I think Americans preach being independent a bit too much. Everyone is co-dependent on others, humans are social animals. You'll see this a lot in immigrant families, the kids stay with their parents until they get married, grandparents also live with them, 3 generations in one household, that's the way it should be.
I made the mistake of moving out of my parent's home at 16, and I struggled, I think the worst thing a young person can do is try to be independent too early. Of course it doesn't help that American culture means your parents kicking you out at 16.

When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

It's called the choice paradox. The more choices you have, the less likely you'll feel satisfied with the one you choose. Men have fewer choices, therefore, feel more content with the partner they settle down with. Nowadays, women have myriad choices, and will never feel like they can find 'Mr right' because they're spoilt *******s. So, they end up 40, with a powdered uterus, still looking for 'the one'

If you want a high-earning dual-income household or just a high-achieving career for yourself, you're going to be bouncing around for a while to build up your careers before you can choose someone to settle down with. If you marry in your 20s, it's a slam-dunk that one of you is going to have to compromise your career hard to stay together. The median age of first marriage was already 28 in 2011, which probably means that today, for non-Clevons, it's well into your 30s.

This one took it way too far, but I used to bang out a cute little finance geek who married around 30 and sure enough, having kids at that time was basically the dead-end for her career. Years of Top 10 graduate school and all that amounted to jack chit when she tried to get back on track after slowing it down for a few years to be a mom.
Nah, fukk that. I’m not doing that.

I'm alright with that. I'll have my DNR ready to go and the first sign of medical trouble that isn't over quickly means 100mg of morphine through the IV and it's lights out for good. I can't imagine making my family suffer while I rot away in some nursing home.
Anyway, that's why I still run a sub 6 minute mile. I'm going to be running circles around the young ones if I ever do decide to have children.

lmao @ all the societal and gender-based influence people are attributing to this story
we just going to ignore the fact she had her eggs frozen at 42, and tried to have them fertilized at 45? that prob has more to do with her lack of success than the process itself.
Also lmao @ freezing your eggs and freeing your career at 42yo.

Thats a sad ass story man. Dont know why people laugh at this.
No WK but i can only imagine the pain of the plans that you thought were for sure gonna give you a happy life, just dissapear out of nowhere and you are left alone, too depressed and too late to do anything about it.

"The flowers bloom, then wither... The stars shine and one day become extinct. This earth, the sun, the galaxies and even the big universe, someday will be destroyed. Compared with that, the human life is only a blink, just a little time. In that short time - people are born, laugh, cry, fight, are injured, feel joy, sadness, hate someone, love someone. All in just a moment. And then, are embraced by the eternal sleep called death."

I'm all for roasting women when they deserve it but this story isn't really one of those moments if we are being honest.
"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

I'd say the other half is that American society just has low expectations for women in general.

Brb, work 3 days a week and make like 80k a year. (srs)
Brb, have tons of time off for kids. Brb, combine your 3 day week to a 6 day week and then take 8 days off at a time. (srs)
Brb, even work per diem is enough to raise a kid of two working 1-2 days a week (srs)

I feel bad for this woman. She made a mistake, and she had chit luck with the eggs. I hope that people learn from her mistakes; fertility isn't easy to tame. But I don't see the point in mocking or laughing at her.

The real one you need is to get on dat dere pharmacist time. I know a guy who makes $80K working 20 hours a week. $80K. Part time. Mind=blown.
One day I think this whole overpriced US healthcare system is going to have to change, but there is some good living to be had while it's still running.

That kid would have grown up all fuked up having a single mom like her. You know someone too stupid to realize if you put a good egg in a broken oven its not gonna work.

The feminist agenda is ****ing women so hard. Overall, they were much happier in the misogynistic world where women were less expected to have careers and focused on having a family.
I'm all for women having a choice, what I'm against is this feminist agenda which demands they get careers.

All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.
