Marriage is obviously just a social institution though and istechnicallyunnecessary - so if I really felt like I got all that outside of getting married, that's fine with me I guess.

Women can, and women do fall out of love easily, or at least they are cold and strong enough to TRICK themselves into believing they have fallen out of love. Especially women who are reaching at age where they expected to already be married, girls have a strong survival instinc, they seek a good male provider of security, love becomes second place when the one they love is a beta immature dude who has no plans of grabbing the bulls by the horns and marrying the girl.
They literally have no choice but to fall out of love, and if the girl is attractive, and has a few Chad/Cucks willing to treat them like princesses, that just makes the whole process easier.
Kind of admire that from woman, how strong they can be. One day they grab all that love they feel for you, and push it all together into a tiny ball of feelings, they push it down their bodies in a place they can easily ignore, and they decide to ignore that ball until the ball goes by itself. If they have a russian Chad fuking them good, especially a married Russian who of course has good experience in bed, then that ball dissapears quickly.
Been there done that. A girl loved me to death until one day she realized i wasnt gonna marry her, she moved on, i couldnt believe it.

How am I objectifying her? These aren't breakup goggles. This process has actually knocked some sense into me. It's taken a lot of self-reflection to figure out what went wrong. The problem is, I rarely looked at things from her point of view.

As wincel did point out she kept you as a backup until she was 100% sure that everything would work out with the new guy.
Best of luck to you, OP!
12 years ago a marriage of 5 years blew up on me.
Felt like hell but I got over it, even though it did take some time.
And do not, repeat do not go there to see her.
That would just be a tremendous waste of money, time and emotion.
And she or the new guy might even call the cops and then you will be in a world of hurt.
Arrested in a foreign country-no thanks, Jeff!!

Yeah, you're right bro. I would go over there if things didn't already get so ugly. But for better or worse, I already blew my load trying to getting her back in the past month, and it ended up with her own father threatening me and my livelihood. Meanwhile, she just drove a steamroller over my heart and rode it into the sunset. I'm out of options. Nothing left to do except wait and try to move on. Thanks bro and best of luck to you too!

Once again. I never ENCOURAGED her to leave or see other people. Those were HER ideas. She was the distant one and I had spent a year trying to fix things. When she applied for grad schools, her first choice was 30 minutes away. At this point, we expected she would go there and little would change in our relationship. But she didn't get in. And then she got into her second choice abroad. Honestly, she probably saw that as a sign from God. And perhaps it was.
So after talking to her family and academic advisers, she CHOSE to go abroad. I never once encouraged her. Though I didn't explicitly say so, I didn't like the idea. I kept gently pushing her to look at her third school, that would've been 7 hours away and expensive. But the one thing I didn't do was stand in her way or tell her what to do. She CHOSE to leave. And we talked about it, and it seemed doable since it would only be for a year, and I said I would fly over and visit her in the summer. Later on, when deciding whether to continue a long-distance relationship for the upcoming year, it was HER idea to go on "pause," with the plan to get back together when she came back in a year. I did not encourage this. I think the idea came from her mother. I thought she might need a little space, since the last year was rough and little got resolved, so I don't think I fought this idea. I told her even if we were on pause, not much would change (we would still talk, but without the necessary obligations of dating) and she would see me in the summer. THEN, probably a few months later, on one of the last times I saw her, she said she felt since I was her first boyfriend, that she should do some casual dating with other people. I initially bristled at the idea. But then I thought back to my first girlfriend, and how inexperienced I was and how unready I was for an ultimate commitment. At this point, I was trying to be understanding. I was trying to be accommodating and not selfish. For better or worse, I told her I understood. She insisted that she was still in love with me, she wouldn't date anybody for a while after she left, but perhaps down the road she would go on a few dates. For better or worse, I accepted. I thought she would always come back to me. And if this damn thing didn't stretch out so long, perhaps she would have.
None of this has anything to do with encouragement from myself. The only person encouraging her was her mother. Who happens to be her best and most trusted friend in the world.

Most chicks make their own $$$ anyway and will willingly adopt the FA & casual ONS lifestyle if you approached them from this angle. The OP gives the vibe (especially after being in academia for so long) that he has lived a sheltered life & has not figured himself out yet. I personally think the OP needs to expose himself to more people (social clubs, etc: doesn't have to be sexual) & experiences. If the OP does not get anything right away he will learn how to cut his losses & cut them aggressively and fast. There has never been an easier time in history to find the LTR that you want!

It's over. You need to stop dwelling on it. Stop blaming yourself. She's done. Your life goes on. Try to remember times before you met her. You had an entire life before that. And btw she did use you as a backup, and that means she wasn't as great a person as you thought.

I read the first page, then the last page with Wincel and Rabbitbj going in raw, thought they were being kunts.
Read the rest of the thread and agree with most of what they are both saying..
OP.
First, stop calling him Vladicuck, if anything you are the absolute cuck here, you thought she was cucking him when she was stringing him along for you; but as it turns out you have been the one getting strung along the whole time and she has been dishonest about it.
Who cares what lead you to this point, her fault/your fault (this part of Wincel and Rabs argument simply doesn't matter) you need to stop analysing everything that has lead you to this point because you cant change that and you aren't going to find a secret key to undo it.
You still really truly love her? then let her chase her happiness and leave her alone. You are too old and educated to be acting this creepy.
Write a list of things that used to bother you about your relationship with. It was not perfect and you are romanticizing the hell out of it. you need to understand that it wasn't perfect and she wasn't perfect for you. Time to make a conscious decision to move on.

Did she really love you? like, REALLY in love with you? If yes.... then.......
You have two moves left :
1) do nothing and accept it
or
2) show up in person so she sees how serious you are and that you really mean it

Let me explain to you what marriage is.
It's putting your already existing relationship officially on a peace of paper. There is nothing more to it.
For women of course it's a little bit different.
But you did mess up.

No one is at fault here. The girl moved on and the guy regretted what happened.
The only person who can claim that it's his fault is the OP alone. You, me or anyone here doesn't have the right to tell him that. Do you know how he feel before it all happened? It's not a mistake to not want kids, its his choice. Now if he regrets his decision, he's the only one who can say its his fault. Not us.

I too was heartbroken and made like 10 threads about the subject, jesus i was lost. I didnt get cucked by a Chadimir though, i got cucked by a mexican Tim which is even worse. Same exact fukin scenario, she broke up with me because i didnt want to marry after 3 years of relationship and one day after breaking up with me, this mexican Tim was already proposing to her. He too had kids already lol.
Im going to tell you what happened in my story and if it helps you in anyway then perfect, if not, then disregard.
When she broke up with me, it was because i didnt want to marry. I just didnt, wasnt ready yet, wasnt there financially and wasnt sure either that she was the one for me. She was my 10/10 physically but her personality clashed with mine in so many ways that sometimes will make the relationship seem like a chore. So i kept pushing off the engagement month after month until eventually she said fuk it, and broke up with me out of the blue and started dating the mexican Tim.
Now i begged for her to come back, i was hearbroken, suddenly i was so sure that she was the one i wanted to marry her... as soon as she left me, i was damn sure she was the one, all my doubts faded away, i wouldnt ever love a woman like i loved her and no woman would ever love me like she did... or so i thought...
Your mind plays you some tricks when you are in that situation. One day im tired about the relationship, and there is no way im marrying anytime soon to this chick, and one day later, i was hearbroken and damn sure that i had lost the love of my life. How can i go from one extreme to the other one so fukin quick? The mind plays tricks on you my friend, your own mind tests your strenght, and i failed last year.
So i begged for a couple of weeks but she in a much more polite way than your ex (because i assume my girl back then still had feelings for me) turned me down time after time. Then i gave her the classic "im ready to marry you now" line, the one you used, and my then ex girlfriend, too, got mad at it and told me it was too late and it wasnt right, i was just saying it to make her come back, just as you are right now. Deep inside that was the truth, i just wanted her back and was willing to do anything for her, my jealously and my nostalgia wouldnt let me be in peace knowing shes sleeping with some other dude, thats my woman gotdamin and she belonged to me for three damn years, what the hell is she doing dressing up, putting on makeup to go out with ANOTHER man?
So she rejected me one final time, and i decided to went NC. I went NC for 2 more months, but i didnt really move on, not even a bit, i still had hopes, but i decided that my best chance was to let her know that this new guy wasnt so perfect, make her remember me while im gone and miss me, make her wonder if i had already moved on too.
And it actually worked. I bump into her one day at the gym, and she was looking sexy as fuk, but i kept my cool. Politely said hi to her and kept doing my ****, deep down i wanted to talk to her so bad, ask her how she sdoing, ask her to come back etc, but no, it wasnt the time, i kept my cool. So she approached me and started asking me about my life. Long sotry short, couple of day pass and we are having sex again, jizzed inside her, made her take a plan B pill, and commanded her to break up with her mexican Tim, i was going to take care of her now, she shouldnt doubt me anymore. Im ready to marry her, to get her back and keep her for the rest of my life.
So she did, and we were once more, a happy couple and i had what i dreamed about for almost three months, she was mine again, i could do with her what i wanted, her body belonged to me and i had the right to tell her to fuk off if she did something that would make me mad. She was my property once again, everything would be fine...
So fast forward to today, february 07 of 2018, and i am in almost the same exact scenario as last year. I dont want to marry her yet, for the same exact reasons i didnt want ot marry her one year ago. Im not sure shes the one and im not ready yet for that responsibility, especially because her spending habits are worrysome to say the least. And shes pressuring me HARD to marry now, shes even up looking up the papers i need for me, talking to my mom asking her to help her get the papers, going to churches by herself finding out available dates and ****.
And im days away from telling her that i dont want to marry her. Thats one thing you do when you are sure, absolutely sure, you dont marry someone because that person is pressuring you.
So i wasted an entire year of her life, made her come back to me by promises i obviously couldnt keep, and now i feel like a complete douchebag who is about to break a girls heart, and in doing so, its gonna break mine too because i care so much for this girl you have no idea how much is going to hurt me knowing that her entire future or what she thoght was gonna be her life, doesnt exist anymore and she has to start from scracth.
So in short, focus on yourself, improve yourself, and only marry a woman when you are ABSOLUTELY sure thats what you want to do, but also, dont go making false promises, giving girls ilusions just to keep them by your side, that lacks integrity and a man should have integrity above all.

I gotta tell you bro, it's crazy how similar your story is to mine in most ways. But there are some key differences. First of all, I'm older than you. Second of all, my girl was like the opposite of yours in terms of compatibility. She was actually a 10/10 personality, we were a perfect match, almost no complaints. Physically, she was very attractive and would be a 7 or 8/10 for some, but she just didn't fit "my type" very well. You know what I'm talking about. For example, I like curvy girls with big tits, and she was rail thin. Despite this, the sex life was still 10/10 because she put in so much effort. But it did give me pause, and I couldn't help but look at other girls at times that checked all those physical boxes I was looking for. It was just this nagging doubt for me. In retrospect, I was still attracted to her, everything else was great, and I should have been able to look past it. After she left, I went out on some dates with girls that were a physical match, and I realized how much they paled in comparison to her. I realized how shallow I was being. All I wanted was her.
Anyway man, it's interesting how your story turned out, though it's very tragic for your girl. You'll have the peace you were looking for, but she's going to be absolutely devastated. You're 100% sure she's not the one? Keep us updated on how that goes.
Let me be clear though, if my ex took me back, it would not end the same as your story. I would marry her. I want to marry her. That is, assuming she hasn't changed into a completely different person since I last saw her. We would need a few months to rekindle the flame and resurrect what we once had. But if that was successful, I would keep my word. I'm older than you and I'm ready, and this process has made me realize that I'm ready. My only worry would be how the marriage progressed in the far future, especially once we had children. I would be a little nervous about that. But I do know that I'm ready to make sacrifices for her and I know she would make the same sacrifices for me. I really do love the girl, and this isn't just jealously or sour grapes or anything of the sort, despite what buns buns is saying.
So ultimately, I think the main difference between our situations is compatibility. You were more attracted to her physical attributes than her personality. But for me, the situation is the opposite. And I've grown to feel very comfortable marrying a 10/10 personality.
Best of luck to you bro, and repped.

BUT if you two can work on those issues together, and make some serious progress, marriage can be back on the table again. It's not fear of commitment. I'm a romantic guy, I don't sleep around I crave relationships, I crave romance, deep connections... I would marry my current girl if her few very strong and dangerous redflags didn't exist.
Her spending habits are horrible, and she can't be controlled in that aspect, she would rather fight and defend her spending instead of aknowledging her problem. She is even straight forward about it, saying she is of high maintenance, and if I'm marrying her she expects always the best financial scenarios, because that's what daddy got her used to.
All I hear when I hear those words is "you are fuked, gonna be a slave to your job for years to come or she's gonna be unhappy and bitchy (and lord can she be bitchy)
Red flag number two: she is controlled by her mom and her mom is basically the worst influence she can have, telling her things like she is a princess and the guy has to work and bust his ass to keep her happy because she's worth it, her mom telling her how much money should I be giving her, letting her mom decide for her if I'm being bad or good to her etc.
And number three, chemistry is not there anymore. She is so stressed about marrying and a family and yarda yadda that she hasn't gotten wet for a long time serious, I'm in perfect shape, good looking, treat her like a princess, romantic and she still is never horny... she says that's all gonna work out once we marry but yeah...
Not like I want to justify my actions to you rabbitjb, but I hope you start realizing that not everything is the mans fault like you always say it is.
And btw we both are co-dependant to each other that's why we have such a hard time moving on

I know the honest, common sense, no-nonsense approach that seems so rational to us men often blows up with females, but it's worth considering.
Plus, if she blows up about it, maybe she won't want to marry you anymore either. It's a win-win.

Having a partner that you know is committed to be there through thick and thin is important. Having kids in a stable partnership is also important; that doesn't technically require marriage, but the reality is people are more likely to quit and give up if there's less incentive to stick out the tough times. Of course, there's also the win-win of complementary roles - and the innate fulfillment that us human animals desire.

Rose tinted specs... perhaps. But I was looking at it through jade tinted specs while we were dating. Grass is always greener type of thing. I now fully appreciate so many of the things she did that I didn't properly appreciate at the time. So I think I'm seeing things more clearly than ever.
A year? Hmm. Ok, will bump this thread in 2019.

Her attitude regarding financial matters is a humongous red flag.
This alone is a reason to run for the hills as fast as possible.
Her being โconditionedโ by her mother is another red flag which is just as humongous as the first one.
