Because they have been brainwashed to believe so and/or it makes them feel superior to atheists.

furthermore you can go right now to the amazon jungle and talk to some bros who never seen a white guy who know not to kill one another.

id invite you to read up on on the boring ass debate about whether or not morality is real, subjective watever.

know that you are talkin out of your ass though. i am too, but slightly less so.

https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/moral-relativism/

also im realizing your position is weird. "morality is subjective! luckily we have jesus"

most religious people say "morality is objective and jesus IS that objective morality"

^ william lane craig is big on the latter.
You are simply making fallacious claims about me while being too incompetent to grasp the obvious. I just proved to you we don't even share the same morals. You cannot disprove or argue against that. Humanity holds no universal moral code.

Human history literally illustrates a constantly changing set of morals from society to society, from civilization to civilization and that much is indisputable. "Some bros" in the Amazon jungle know not to kill each other because as I've already saidprimitive humans escaped barbarism through agreement on mutual benefits.

We did not stop murdering one another on a whim because we all spontaneously felt bad about it. That's just retarded. A few of us got together and communicated "if you don't attack me, I won't attack you" or "Maybe we could work together to get the food instead of kill each other for it". There is no morality involved in that. That is equivalent to a business decision yet you believe it to be moral in nature, and ironically claimI am the onewith a limited grasp on morality. It's not even clear you're aware of the word's meaning.

this is why i think morality is "real" even if it is a mutating thing that changes and changes. some guy was tellin me once that moral good is like not imaginary, but an ideal. we are working towards it thru something like rawlsian reflective equilibrium, but it's unreachable (either because its a perfect ideal or because it must necessarily always get better, idk).

this probably all fits within both religious and non-religious viewpoints for bros who are keen to be charitable.

vito i would invite you to study a lot more about william lane craig. he loves jesus and believes that morality is dead nuts real.

you have described like normative ethics and then sed "there's no morality involved in that" so our beef is just semantic. i can see you take a lot of pride in being competent here so ill just concede. i think you and i were better off arguing about the goods and evils of butt pron.

I don't want to belabor the point, because you can look this up for yourself if you are truly interested in it.
Strong mental gymnastics....this is why people don't believe in notions of a god or religions...if anything I like mythology way more appealing. Also why do you fanatics make the devil out to be so bad when honestly he is weeding out the bad people from going to heaven, I think he is an unsung hero in your fairy tale community ya dig?

You appeal to authority as if it isn't a logical fallacy. You have severely limited ability to think on your own, or even just realize the obvious.

You've done nothing but attack anyone who disagrees with you and hurl insults at people who are having a civil debate with you, but expect us to agree with you or see some light of God in you?

I was Christian for most of my life, and the entire point is to do your best to emulate Christ. So many posts by Christians (atheists also sling mud but I digress) are downright insulting and condescending, and shows no love, no light of God, no emulation of Christ. The only person ITT that came close to that is the red.

As a Christian, you want people to see the light of God through your words and actions. You want people to join your flock. If you cannot talk to someone who does not believe with any respect, how can you expect to accomplish your goal as a Christian?

Trying to think of anything that transcends the bounds of our mind and deals with infinity is difficult - which is why the expansion of space into nothingness can be a mind twister to most people. I just establish the rule set of the religion and critique from there. I don't necessarily have to believe the rule set. So far in this thread the rules I've mentioned for Christianity are that: God always was, God created all things, including time, God acts on his creation in accordance with his commandments andsomeof the rule set laid out by Christian humans.

People can obviously get carried away with this, and chalk things up to Deus Vult or "that's just the way it is". From there you have to critique their position.

Or

In eternity, where there is no time, nothing can grow. Nothing can become. Nothing changes. So Death created time to grow the things that it would kill. And you are reborn, but into the same life that you've always been born into. I mean, how many times have we had this conversation, detectives? Well, who knows? When you can't remember your lives, you can't change your lives, and that is the terrible and the secret fate of all life. You're trapped by that nightmare you keep waking up into.

You are not a Christian and have no authority to lecture me on being one. I will retaliate against any malicious statements or outright lies regarding my religion becauseI can. I'm not a missionary or recruitment officer. I do not respect those who disrespect me or my religion.

You can use that argument against rabbit, but Altarofplagues did not say anything malicious toward you. He did not disrespect you, hedisagreeswith you. If two people share different political ideologies, is that disrespectful?

And cannot lecture you? You are a CHRISTIAN! That is not a lecture, that is EXACTLY what you are supposed to aspire to be, like Christ. It doesn't matter who I am, your reality is the same. Are you denying what I said? Is the goal of a Christian not to try everyday to live as Christ, love your neighbor, and preach the Gospel to the world? Please just answer that.

This is infinitely more abstract than the notion of a single creator, so not sure what your point is. I'm guessing a false correlation.

Also was going to quote your previous post; you don't believe nationalism and racism were driving factors behind the Holocaust? Wew lad.

Fair enough only to be clear I’m not disrespecting HIS personal religion, I’m disrespecting the hypocrisy of the religious people I have encountered in my line of work which is a big difference

And then I’m playing with his pomposity a bit, but that just for fun

Are you kidding? His replies were:

"man u talk a lot about morality bean subjective with a limited grasp of wat your are actually saying."

"furthermore your lack of knowledge of ethical societies which predate christianity (greeks, pre-empire rome, ethics within celtic societies"

"know that you are talkin out of your ass though. i am too, but slightly less so."

He's directly insulting my intelligence without even refuting what I said.

I worship our Lord Jesus Christ, but I will never be able to be like him. He is God and I am only a man. I praise him, love him, respect him and attempt to convey unto him my gratitude. But there is a reason why the Lord's prayer asks for mercy and forgiveness first and foremost.

Can you explain more? Is death the right word? If there was death in eternity doesn't that destroy the concept of eternity?

So beyond worship, how do you live as a Christian, what do you actually do in the name of your religion that benefits others and brings succour to the world?

Not sure what your real intention was with this statement, but it comes across like you're saying your anger and vitriol and okay because you can simply ask for forgiveness for being a prick to someone.

My point is that it's better to try to control anger in the first place rather than just be angry and nasty knowing you can ask for forgiveness whenever you feel like it.
