Boxing has taught me a few valuable lessons about life.

One of the best being do the small things right. Rarely will anyone make one big decision that will completely turn their life around. Make the small choices right everyday, put in the work and you will be rewarded. Far too often people look for a quick fix or give up when they don’t get immediate results.

Do the small things right.

That right, slipped my mind.

Well Deenur inspires me; and as an budding environmental documentarian I think my expectations are pretty reasonable.

Writing a screenplay is a challenge, but with a documentary you just let the talent do all the talking. Or none, depending on the content.

My goal (and 2018 resolution) is to have a completed and displayed project by the end of the year. Even if its just one of the millions on a youtube channel. Heaven help me.

I find the most challenging thing in life for me right now, is not having enough time to work on my goals. I'm 25 years old.

-work 35-48 hours per week with a 40 min commute
-gym 4-5x per week
-girlfriend lives 40 min from me. Try to see her 2-3x per week
-try to see my mom routinely as she's in a rough spot in her life

On top of this, I have a couple personal projects I'm working on. But I feel like I don't have enough time for these. Working on a project for a couple hours here and a couple hours there = very slow progress.

I feel guilty because I rarely see my good friends anymore. There's just no time. Do I really have to choose between my girlfriend or my friends? Or sacrifice the gym for more time?

Anyone else in a similar situation?

I can look at that list and tell its waaaaaay too congested.
My unsolicited advice is- if you have to work (most people do) and have a mom you need to help (very admirable) and are dedicated to the gym (good job) there is no time for friends (other than occasionally) and girlfriends (unless you have someone with the same goals and is very understanding), or you will be run ragged.

Prioritize. You are going to have to choose one thing to be in that third spot- gym, friends or girlfriends. Two are going to have to go.

This is such a great thread. Lots of awesome stories and advice in here. I've read through about half of it and will finish all 44 pages eventually.

Deenur, I highly respect your perspective, and you've bestowed a lot of wisdom ITT. Do you think you could give me a little advice? I posted my relationship story here:

https://forum.obnoxiousbrutes.com/showt...hp?t=175350511

I would love to hear your take on the situation. Thanks brother.

I respect people that pursue the LTR. Not to sat that I disrespect others that don't but making a relationship work is hard work. As to your question "So Misc, did I dun goof, or did I dodge a bullet in the end?" Its easy for me to say dun goofed. But even if you got married, the issue of kids may have hurt things more in the long run. She sounds like she was the one. I'm sorry to hear your goals didnt match up.

I tend to think of regrets as something I would do differently if I had the change. I also think of it as a learning tool that make me smarter in the present/future, than I was in the past.

Been following this awesome thread for years now, had a quick question for ya

so me and my ex literally broke up not even a full 24 hrs ago. i thought she was going to be someone that i had a solid chance with for a while but it didnt turn out that way.

my question to you is this. alot of people tell me before even getting into another relationship, worry about becoming the best version of myself first and then the right lady will come. do you believe that aspect to be true?
