Is there a scam larger than renting apartments?
The rentals around here are absolutely insane, 700$/month for studios, 1400$+ for a 2 bed apartment, and this is suburbs. How TF is anyone supposed to save money when you are losing 10-20k a year in 'rent'?
How many bros own a house instead? Aware me if so, seems way way better.

because liberals passed laws requiring apartments to not charge above certain dollar amounts so companys build luxury apartments to bypass the regulation, Also they give subsidized apartments jacking up the prices for everyone else

I live in an apartment right now, but it's a luxury/resort style place. Studios here start at around $2500/mo.

20 minute drive from downtown, so not really super far out there
on paper, house value has doubled in 4.5 years
if i were you though, i would wait for the coming crash and buy a foreclosure

Can't wait to buy my house. All of my friends always complain about how they can't save money with their students loans/rent, it's all bullchit. There is honestly no reason a person, unless unable to live on their own or they don't want to be responsible for maintenance, should be renting living space.

If you can rent to where it's only 25% of your take home pay, then it's all good. A lot of working class pay 50-70% of their take home pay to rent an apartment and can never get ahead.

It depends on your finances.
For example, if you're investing the money into something that will generate a higher return with less risk than real estate, then it would be stupid to tie up your capital into buying a house.
IMO real estate should never account for more than 40% of your net worth. And even then, I'm assuming you know something about investing in real estate.
If you're investing 90+% of your net worth into a house, you're doing it horribly wrong. And I know a lot of people that do just that irl, because "I ain't wanna pay no damn rent".

Pissed off they come in here whenever they feel like it without even announcing who they are
Inspections every week like I'm some 18 year old kid in usmc boot camp
Loud people keeping me awake and intruding on my peace
Alcoholic drug addict neighbors constantly bothering and knocking on my door asking for rides
People driving through here at 45 mph like they are in Mogadishu or Mexico City so I can't even back out of my spot without some ass flying around the corner and freaking out on me screaming and honking their horn
People letting their animals scheit all over the place
People littering everywhere
No washer or dryer so I have to pay $7 per load of laundry. Adds up fast.
Subsidies create an artificially high quantity demand and cause prices to be way too high for the rest of us working people.

I live in a $1900 a month, 1800 sq. ft. 4 bedroom 3 bath luxury apartment. They now go for $2500+ for new tenants. Every time my wife and I go to look for a house I either get laid off or some other financial burden happens. Houses here in the northern Dallas suburbs are insane. All the new ones being built are like 4k square feet, $500k+. The ones the size we need aren't on the market long enough for the realtor to put a for sale sign up. There are so many people from California moving here thanks to Toyota and State Farm relocating.
Our AC unit went out a few months back as well as our water heater so the management replaced them. The management are putting in wood floors this summer.. who knows how much that's going to cost them. I don't have a lawn to mow, fence to maintain, walls to paint. I have 4 swimming pools, nice gym, sauna, pool table, basketball and tennis courts. Yeah I'm not building equity but I'm still working towards buying a home if I can catch one that goes for sale when my lease ends.
