Interesting website. Check out the charts and maps. Looks like part of the north and midwest and a bit of south west seem to have the least gun violence problems. South east, mid atlantic, and north east are not in good shape though.

Please discuss.

So basically it falls in line with population density. If we get rid of the high numbers of people the problem will be fixed.

I don't know why all these places group real mass shootings with a gang shootout of 4 people. Makes that statistic useless.

Pretty stupid of them to show incidents and not the incidence rate, but they're gun control advocates, so...

You really don't know? It's to create fear. Do you know how many demanding moms are out there who are convinced that there are 300+ Sandy Hook's annually.

Would love to see (or do) a multivariate analysis on gun incidents. Be willing to bet THE highest correlate is poverty or fatherless upbringing.

You realize that picture basically just shows population density right. There's less incidents in the middle because there's less people there

It should be # of incidents per 1000 people, not total # of incidents

Can't vouch for the US but the Canadian side looks pretty accurate

The FBI says that states with the most legally owned weapons have the least amount of gun violence. Its time to train and arm teachers. Anything else is a half measure.

the average teacher is soft and will not fight, the only way it would work is to have dedicated armed security, but the shooters typically dont seem to care if they live or die so i dont think it would deter them from trying.. people hate eachother and society, so as long as that factor remains we will have crazies trying to kill masses of people on the regular

Armed security is probably the 2nd best idea to arming teachers. Of course, MAJOR financial reform has to be allotted to pay for it all. We should just take the $500m that taxpayers give to planned parenthood and kick start a measure that evens the odds. Unless you can remove all 350+ million firearms, then taking measures to protect yourselves are the best defense

Criminals do not follow laws. If you know that measles is about to make a comeback, wouldnt you take steps to protect yourself? You can choose not to carry to protect yourself if you want, but me? I'll be responsible for my own safety rather than hoping virtue signalling half measures convince a crazy not to open fire in public.

I don't think forcing training on teachers is a good idea. Most of these liberal teachers can hardly deal with a classroom of kids do you really think they can handle a gun in a tense situation? BRB shooting the police as they enter the room.

Its cool man. Keeping your family pretty much helpless sounds like an amazing idea. 2.7 million deaths annually in the USA and 100k come from gun violence. That's 3% of the deaths per year are by guns. To put this into perspective, gun deaths arent even in the top 20 of annual deaths. This is no perfect plans by any means, but why would you purposely keep someone from having a fighting chance?

Forcing a teacher to train with a firearm is absolutely unconstitutional. Regular gun training teaches you to evaluate situations and make informed decisions. The best way to fight one sided gun violence is by evening the odds. Not putting up "gun free zone" signs (where 92% of all mass shootings occur) and implimenting state-wide gun control measures that dont effect criminals (where gun violence is most prevalent. the cities and states witht he strictest gun laws)

Rural in those areas means you have a couple of miles of forest. Rural over here means a couple hundred miles. Every population density map shows the same thing. East coast is packed in tighter by far.
