to me the South of Germany is the greatest and most beautiful country in the world when detached from politics

nature, people, tradition, education, public life, work conditions (GOAT)

It's just sad to see which way we're heading

That's true. America and Canada have tons of natural beauty which Europeans die for. Europe has the architecture which I hope Americans die for in equal numbers. Point being, nobody is better than anyone and we all have our dark history. America isn't the saviour of the universe and people have got along, survived and thrived for a long time before it even existed. Also, you have very little freedoms in comparison to most of Europe apart from the right to own a gun. The American Dream is a dream for a reason, it's a half truth perpetrated purely to capture the mind of the masses at large. In reality, you are very unfree, they just want you and your children to march into war draped in the stars and stripes when necessary.

There are some really cool architecture in the Old World for sure. Especially in Austria/Hungary. But then again thinking that France has the best culture/food/architecture is a very French thing to assume.

It is their architecture was meh but the countries you mentioned along with Prague, Denmark for non-euro countries Asia, Indonesia specifically Nepal and India, Egypt are pretty sweet with their uniqueness. If you ever get a chance go to Egypt and take the Nile cruise was pretty legit and filled with a solid tour guide that gave lots of history lessons that I never knew about.

American pop culture is garbage but what does that say about the rest of the world when they consume it on mass too. At least it is our garbage that we created. What's your excuse world?

I mean it's practically mainstream to chit on the French but they're the source of most of the glamorous things in life. They have the highest density of 3-star Michelin restaurants per square kilometer and much of gourmet gastronomy comes directly from French cuisine and cooking techniques. The fact that half the words I used are French says something I think (gourmet, cuisine, restaurant etc.)

Easy to say that but you've never been put in that position.

The truth is that the leader/government of a nation has to think about the consequences of their actions. And if refusing to surrender means the slaughter of your armies, the destruction of your cities and the pillaging of your wealth with no hope of victory, that is when a government needs to swallow it's pride and limit the suffering of it's people.

How many lives could have been saved and cities preserved intact if Japan and Germany had surrendered when it was clear the war was lost? The answer is millions and many.

Same with you brother. Bali is pretty nice spot too you can get on a compound through Air BnB for $50 a night and the owners of the house will cook all your meals, provide transportation and you're right on the beach. Was a 2 bedroom bungalow with full amenities and a butler/maid type service for an extra $20 a night. The compound was monitored via cameras as well for extra security. The main house where the owners lived had a mini gym, sauna, hot tub on their balcony over looking the ocean as well and a fridge full of your choice of drinks and microwave food for when they where sleeping. Trip was only about $600ish not including the house as they provided all necessities.

As for the fatal guy....not sure why you think America has less freedoms than the rest of the world. Not once did I see anyone doing the types of protests and stuff said on the news/newspapers like they do here in America the rest of the world is very restricted on what they can say, do and write.

That's the difference between our countries mentality and yours. We will not surrender and we will only stop until you surrender or we all die. Notice how European countries are bowing down to outside countries wants/needs when they come over as a refugee...lol.....common brother.

You say that now but if you didn't have military superiority you'd be thinking a lot differently. European security relies on a very complicated relationship between countries. Together, they are a nuclear power and have a huge army. Alone, they have nothing. This is why Brexit is such a big deal for European security, that set in stone "we will attack anyone who attacks you" rule is diminished and will need to be re-established. The UK is also a nuclear power so it's a pretty big deal.

Agreed that it's wrong to call the French actions in WW2 cowardly. They just got overrun. Plus them standing up and fighting while the Germans were marching to Dunkirk to drive out the British allowed that evacuation to happen. But let's have it right. Most of Paris is an absolute chit hole. Some parts are fantastic looking but Banlieues are fukkin' horrific.

This is the kind of chit that Hitler got off on.

Laying down arms when all hope of victory is lost is not cowardice. It is sacrificing your pride to ensure your family and your nation survive to fight another day.

When the head of the German delegation signed the armistice of 1918, he said "a nation of 80 million suffers, but does not die"
He was hated for signing but what he said was true.

I'm from the UK and I've lived in Paris, Prague, Berlin, Canada and the US. I felt the most restricted in the United States, and Canada had the most boring and bland existence + terrible weather you could imagine. Since you're from the UK, you're coddled by social freedoms which you'll only feel if you actually move to the US (social housing, social healthcare, welfare etc.) In the US, having a major health diagnosis is akin to a death sentence if you don't have the money, you don't just walk into your GPs and get sent off to an NHS hospital. If you're homeless, you don't go into a council house, live on the dole and get a job at the local jobcentre plus, you die on the street under a pile of newspapers. Until you feel those sort of pressures, you're unqualified to comment.

Except the opposite happens. Your possessions are taken, your women raped and all you have left is shame and sorrow knowing you welcomed a foreign invader with open arms. Might as well roll over and die at that point from the humiliation.

We have the strongest military and pump as much money into it as we do. To ensure we don't get over run, defeated and keep our citizen's safe. We started the nuclear race and own it on all levels. Your whole rant was pointless honestly man.

Do you even know how the US was formed? One of the only former British colonies that rebelled against the crown and won. The US is only 250 years old and the greatest superpower in the world.

Yeah the US does a lot of stupid chit but it is hilarious receiving criticism from countries that are barely holding it together themselves.

The money pumped in was partially derived from pillaging foreign lands just like you are so paranoid will happen to you. The military bases were established on the back of hundreds of thousands of deaths of mostly innocent people, so was the nuclear dominance. If you're comfortable with that and believe in killing off everyone else to ensure your own survival, then you're right - it's pointless, but at least don't say you'd fight to the death if invaded by a power ten times the sizes of you because you wouldn't want to face humiliation because that's based on your current status as the global military power. If you weren't, you'd have surrendered yesterday.
