Misc lurker here, but wanted to give cliffs of my perspective:

- Was in early 20's, like a lot in here
- hated kids and the thought of having them and wanted to be selfish, reflecting a lot of what misc has said
- didn't want kids until mid 30's, and wanted to make money and achieve the dream, climb the ladder
- got drunk and knocked wife up (no birth control, pullout only)
- devastated at news, had bad thoughts, but persevered
- had beautiful baby boy at ripe age of 24

ENTIRE PERSPECTIVE WAS CHANGED, MIND BLOWN

Went and had 3 more kids since then and climbed that corporate ladder. Neg away if you want, to each his own. Life is now challenging but awesome, wouldn't have it any other way.

I don't know why anyone would take so much pride in being so openly narcissistic, hedonistic and nihilistic like some ITT. And on top of that they'll use the same old fashionable excuse to eliminate themselves from the gene pool. Modernity really sucks.

Errybody going beta about "but meh toyz" 2 kids, still have my jeep, and my mustang, and my mountain bike, and my camper... Good times at the drag strip with the Mustang, good times at the off road park in the jeep (5 year old likes to sit on my lap and "drive" at the off road park), and weekend camps with the family. Can't beta out and let the lady tell you you're selfish for wanting to still have your hobbies when you have kids.

Lol IMO having kids can be the greatest thing that can happen. They can provide such joy to your life if you think about it. Yes, they are expensive, stressful, and take up your personal time. All those things are worth it for your kids. I dont have any kids, but if i did have kids, I would cherish them and wouldnt care about any personal superficial goals I had.

I merely shared my opinion that millennials are selfish and that I'm ok with people not having kids if they don't want to. Seems like we're all in agreement with this.

The only beta cucks are the one who settle down as soon as a girl tells them what she wants. Everyone is different. Maybe I want to go to Vegas with the boys at 35 years old instead of camping in the mountains with my perfect little family.

Look bros srs talk here, I'm not trying to talk anyone that doesn't want kids into having them. A friend of mine that had a kid before me told me that they weren't interested in letting having kids define their lives. He said it best, you can either live your life with kids, or you can change your life because of kids. My wife and I decided to live OUR life with our kids, instead of letting that we had kids define our lives. Our kids are probably some of the most even keeled kids you'll come across at the ages that they are. It's when you start letting your kids define and shape your life that you cease to peak because of kids.

You shouldn't have kids at this stage of your thinking bro. Kids are your legacy, why the hell would you want to get drunk in vegas at 35 when you could teach your kid how to fish or make a tent during that camping trip. Sounds like to me that you feel unfulfilled
with your younger years and just trying to hang onto them to get some sort of satisfaction.

Absolutely. Kids can really limit your life since you have to devote so much time, attention, and money towards them. They become your entire life. That's why I'm not having kids till like mid 30s.

Depends on where you are in life when you have them. They will put a pause on some things if you weren't a bit prepared.

But 95% of you saying you won't have kids are still gonna end up havin kids, so go travel the world while you can!

Nothing wrong with it either.... but I can do that too... just leave the kids with their grand parents, or tell my wife I'm going for a weekend in Vegas.

There's nothing stopping you from doing both of those things other than money. Having kids =/= having no life; being broke or marrying some battleaxe is what does that. You have a really weird idea of what having kids are really like.

Who said I was going to get drunk? Look at my physique and decide if I really spend my time getting fked up.

Also, I turn 25 this year and am looking forward to any changes in life and have plenty of satisfaction - IMO just starting my career/business venture. Sounds like you just want to settle down and peak through your offspring.

EDIT: looked at your profile and realized you are probably around my age but talk like you're 45 years old

Youre doing exactly that by calling him immature and selfish for.wanting to live life on his terms and settling down when hes ready instead of settling down as soon as some woman tells him to. Just because someone else prioritizes getting their life where they want it instead of trading it to have kids that they dont want yet doesnt make them immature and you acting like they need to conform to the standard you follow just makes you a raging *******. Its not. Getting yourself in a comfortable place and in the proper mindset to have kids before having them is not selfish at all. Its a hell of a lot more responsible than knocking some random up at 24 and "manning up" to take care of it.

I don't think people in their 20s should have kids, not for the risk of missing out on anything, but because few are responsible and financially secure at that age to give the kids the proper environment to thrive.

As for kids "killing" your motivation, son, you don't even know what motivation is until you see a wonderful little person whose whole world is provided by you and your partner.

Hey brah that's cool if you need something or someone else to give you motivation in life, but some of us can work at that same level without having to take care of a moneypit.

I'm still trying to figure out why so many of you are so insecure with what I said that you keep putting words in my mouth.

My stance:
1. Selfish
2. I'm ok with you not having kids or feeling like you're ready

Relax, just because I think a 35 year old going to Vegas wit da boiz like some 21 year old is a loser doesn't mean ****.

I got married at 20 first kid 21
Im 44 and theyre all grown up now but the best thing was having them young when youre still vital, full of energy and not stuck in your ways.
Being a young parent was awesome and.im super close with my grown up kids because of it. Plus now i get to have another shot at child free life while im still young enough to enjoy it and while others my age are still stuck in that toddlers and junior school grind

I'm jelly. 40s is still able to accomplish whatever you want. My son will be in college when I'm mid-40s. I'm in an area where parents are just starting out in their late 30s/early 40s. lol And MOST of them are in no different positions career-wise than I am. I know a guy with twin girls (he was 52 when he had them), and that mfer can't retire because of that. Also, he had them with his wife who was 40ish at the time.

P.S. I never planned on kids. Happened when I wanted to not pull out. Should've learned about that ovulation cycle first

Well when I say join a startup - it's me and one other guy. So it is our own company. Obvs we have people who own us cause investments n capital expenses n chit.

Each their own man - I thought I didn't want kids, especially since my sisters had kids as teenagers. Then when I got older and really looked into the relationship I have with my pops. I really wanted to have a family.

Sure I could have no kids and dedicate even more time to my career and toys. I got tired of the club/bar/party scene. Became friends with club promoters, got VIP to all sorts of events. For me, it was only fun on the surface level. It didn't have the deep success and wants I had. For me, it's to be not necessarily be a millionaire but financially well-off enough to go on vacations and pay for my kids college and live comfortably.

Bottom line, I want my successes throughout life to be passed down onto my offspring, not soaked up by government and other board members that take that success to their own families, sure they'll have some but not all.

*In addition - the joy I get playin with my kiddos is so much fun. Seein their little wheels turn as they figure stuff out. I get home and the scream "dad!" and want to play. That kinda chit puts such a huge smile on my face and so much worth.

peaking as in financially? definitely. having a kid is expensive, you could be enjoying a couple of nice rides or vacations around the world. but im assuming having a kid brings great joy as well. i want to have some maybe in my fourties.
