Thank goodness tbh I thought I was the only one.
I'm not talking about the average gym goers who will go on some machines, run on a treadmill and be gone, I'm talking about dedicated gym goers who spend 10 hours+ a week at the gym, meal prep, and basically plan their whole schedule around lifting. First off, very few normal people dedicate so much time doing the same thing over and over again, so you know that most serious lifters are gonna be on the autism spectrum somewhere.
Body dysmorphia seems to be common among both males and females, for instance. It's really not uncommon to meet people who are in the best shape of their life, and complain that they look like chit, even though they look better naked than over 90% of people.
Met this one guy who is so jacked that his arms will stretch out an oversized hoodie, and he can't wear anything but sweatpants or they will rip. Yet, he has the body language and confidence of a 15 year old, 110 lbs boy, it's quite interesting.
A lot of jacked or strong guys in particular don't know how to socialize, or talking with them feels like a challenge. It seems like the stronger a dude is, the poorer his social skills will be. I feel like for a lot of them, they need to be jacked because it covers their lack of social skills.
Two guys I know at my gym have actually been diagnosed with Asperger's, though they are high-functioning.
As for the girls, the dedicated ones without a doubt have serious insecurity issues once you get to know them. One that I know has insane anger problems. Another that I know lives off of Instagram likes and men admiring her in her revealing outfits, and she'll feel ugly if she doesn't get any of those.
Not hating towards anyone who has mental health problems or people who lift seriously, but it's just something I noticed.

"Biggest fear in life is holding babies. Their so fragile, if you drop them you can ruin their entire life.
When a baby is looking at me and no one else is, I like to make sad faces to get the baby to cry and no one knows why it's crying. If they are young enough they will mimic other peoples emotions so if you act sad they will get sad." -captiontom

Yeah most guys who lift are potatoes. A lot of girls who lift usually are not considered attractive with big noses and long faces and I feel like they do it to compensate for their looks

Pretty sure the serious lifters take it too seriously to the point where they have to give up their social life (no partying, eating out) just to maintain and make their gains.

1. Butter face.
2. Attractive but ridiculously tall (5'10"+)
Both feel like they need to compensate for their lack of attractiveness.

lol at this thread
tbh i have to call bullchit on this entire thread, most recreational lifters do go w/e they usually would do
even people prepping for small shows, people still go out partying and having fun, you can still make plenty of gains
feels like your trying to call out other peoples chit to compensate for yourself, don't know what gym you go to but most people in my gym don't all have some sort of disability

And I'd be calling out my chit too, since I'm not too different.

this is true. even the "normal" gym goer that goes a few times a week usually just does it to get a half assed workout in and get some attention and scope out the opposite sex

I go to look good. Yes I am compensating for lack of 10/10 face and 10/10 money. But lol hard at people who try and train like they're olympic power lifters to never compete.
