I'm keen to hear people's insightful opinions on why this trend is pervasive and what can be done about it.

That's a lot of cucks who can't manage their own life. I feel for their parents. Must be embarrassing to have same genetics as these wimps.

Yeah plenty of stories of children ruthlessly taking advantage of their parents love as well.

Actually happens on a small scale to a guy I work with his kid makes easily 3 times the money he does and he literally will refuse to pay for anything if they're out together. Thought that kid is well off he's just a cock sucker.

Sure but at 75% you know it's way way more than just adult aged students.

Yeah, I should get a part-time job while in medical school because studying 80 hours a week and coming up a little short on one or two bills every so often makes me a total cuck.

It isn’t like I’m not going to pay them back someday. I really can’t help if my financial aid sucks.

Whenever I can find a small gig or job that is only for an evening and there isn’t a test the next day, I try to do it. Mow lawns, donate plasma, etc.

I pay for tuition and rent with student aid, but sometimes the bills are too high.

I'm 24 and my parents paid for my tuition. They are also willing to pay for grad school. I see nothing wrong with that, it's not like I waste money on drugs and escorts.

But yeah if you're a young adult and ask mommy & daddy to pay for a new iPhone, that's kinda gay.

What's an adult child? Over 18? Over 20?

Does this include paying for tuition?

If it includes paying for tuition, I can understand. Anything else - nope.

If God ever gave me kids, I'd begin money management teachings from early stages and make them fully responsible for paying their own bills by 16 (except tuition).
Thus let me live, unseen, unknown;
Thus unlamented let me die;
Steal from the world, and not a stone
Tell where I lie.

Part of it is unconditional parental love.
Part of it is young adults struggling to get into the workforce and get decent jobs

The world is going to **** and for the first time people are poorer than the previous generation with worse prospects. It's not a good situation but to an extent the baby boomers are to blame for it. They are the people who voted consistently for feminist divorce laws, higher immigration and more employment overheads in order to be "progressive".

A lot of this. Why would a child ever learn to have to work for anything if the parent never makes them? Also parents don't teach them the difference between needs and luxuries.

People used to be able to support a full family with just one parent working a minimum wage job vs now the standard to get an entry level job is a college degree might have something to do with it.

Lived with my parents until I finished my undergrad, helped tons with maxxsaving and starting my career debt-free. Cuckery would've been to graduate with 50K+ in debt to pretend to be "independent" at school then crawl back to daddy out of necessity...

I don't find it too strange for adults to still be dependent in some way on their parents past 30+ because intergenerational households are fairly common outside of North America. But it's a problem when people are doing it out of financial need instead of actually wanting to be with family.

I believe it. I live in what would be considered to be a “luxury” apartment in a major city with a roommate. We each make $60k+ and can afford our place because we live in the cheapest unit there (each pay $1000/month). Most of the other tenants are kids just out of school and live in apartments that are $2000+ and I doubt they’re all CEO 10k a day bitcoin millionaires.

Well since kids are coming out of undergrad with $1k/mo student loan bills, its reasonable to expect parents to help out with cost of living expenses while they get themselves in the workforce and make their way up the pay scale.

Its a different story if its a Timothy with no schooling or trade training living off mommy and daddy.

Some of them are though. Should people drop out of school and get a retail or fast food job OR is it really a big deal to ask your family for a little help?

Expecting kids to be financially independent by age 16? You're out of touch with reality and those expectations are a pretty good recipe for making your daughter whore herself out/son to be a criminal

Sure, so you would expect this number to be what like 25-30% if that was the only case. The number is 75% the point is there is a significant number of adults in this country relying on their parents for financial support.

First job on my 15th birthday. Bought my own cars. First apartment at 18. I don't feel bad for any of these lazy *******s. I'd feel like a complete loser if my parents had to help me pay for anything.

Over 60% of the 25-64 US population has at least some college educationand nearly half has at least an associate's. People go to school a lot more than in the past while the cost of formal education has increased substantially, no doubt college bills and income forfeited while attending classes contribute a lot to the increase in the phenomenon.
