Missing production targets, orders way below expectations, automated driving crash resulting in a fire, now they're recalling over half their cars ever produced. They are bleeding money and need a capital injection badly but their bond rating just got downgraded to junk. Do they have any chance of pulling out of this death spiral?

You have any links to post? I’m curious as to where you’re getting your info.
I just saw an article this morning about Moody’s potentially downgrading their rating, but haven’t seen anything final yet

I think the flaw is in the design.
The model S is beautiful but it's getting long-in-the-tooth and they need to strike gold again. The 3 is basically a mini model S. Which 1. Cannibalize S sales & 2. Diminishes the value of the S. The X is one of the ugliest designs right up there with the Aztec.
Tldr
Tesla has jumped the shark

Tesla....If there was ever a financial disaster of larger proportion and ridiculousness I've yet to see it. This is a company that has never made a profit, it continually goes back to Wall Street for more money as it burns it in a cash furnace handing out ridiculous compensation to Musk and others, and manages to sell environmental whack-job cultists $80,000 cars that are utterly reliant on the continued existence of a loss-making company to operate and be serviced. The original "feature" that allowed this was literal theft from the taxpayer for every car sold but those subsidies are disappearing fast and at this point are basically gone.
Eventually this will catch up with them. It may have now with the recent bond downgrade. Simply put the company may be forced to issue equity when notes due early next year come up and they need even more than that due to negative operating cash flow. That's a death-spiral as any rational evaluation will lead a potential buyer of said equity issue to realize that they're handing Musk money they will never see again, ever, and as equity holders they have no preference in a liquidation!
When Tesla blows up the worse news is that everyone who has bought one and has it sitting in their garage has an unservicable vehicle since virtually every piece of it is bespoke by and for Tesla! You can't go get service parts from third-party vendors as you can with damn near every other vehicle on the road because there are none! Not only that all the "free" Supercharger access for Model S and X owners ends instantly. As a result the net present value of all those vehicles when Tesla gets in serious trouble craters instantly, they become unmarketable and you as a Model S or X owner will find yourself with a vehicle you cannot sell and ultimately cannot drive as it will not work.

The whole "putting a car in orbit" made me abandon any investments in the company.
People thought it was cool... but that level of f*ckery says two things 1.) we can't manage ourselves or ambitions. 2.) We are hemorrhaging money and need to reduce ourselves to cheap stunts.
Either way, i'm out boyo.

1. Burn rate through the roof
2. Bonds eating **** right now - stock is as well
3. Being investigated for accident in cali
4. In the press for the automated manslaughter in Arizona (though not the car's fault)
5. Recall on their steering wheel bolts due to salt corosion causing failture
6. Model 3 eating the Model S as stated above
7. Lack of infrastructure outside of the east/west coasts
8. Forgot to mention they've never turned a profit....ever not a ****ing dime.
They're ****ed. Along with ******** and the other FAANGs, its like the generals of the bull market are being drug out and shot. We could have see the cyclical high last year. Hold on to your hats.

Elon Musk is a genius but he has new grandiose ambition every few months and his declaration is treated like gospel. At some point you have to start delivering.

Slight difference between a credit crisis which effectively threatens the world, and one automaker that has over extended itself. Get a clue, son.

It doesn't matter, all that matters is that Elon Musk gave us the electric car and it will now be the future with or without Tesla. He is the Edison of our time.
Hopefully he will come up with the tech to make cars that fly like in Blade Runner.
In other words, Elon Musk should be given whatever the fuc he wants.

I think the real value in this company is in the underlying tech, so if they run out of cash what can you liquidate and for how much. Even though the auto pilot is already working in the real world its not rated as the best auto pilot system out there but I think has a ton of value since they have real live data. Their battery tech is the best in the world and given the importance of batteries regarding renewable energy I think thats probably the majority of the value of Tesla lies there. The electrical grid is already overloaded and with a price tag of around 0.5 bil/ power plant the U.S. govt will be reluctant invest in more given they are already massively in debt. With EVs being a reality now theyre all going to end up sucking power from teslas power wall and photo voltaic roofs in the next 5 years. It isn't so much missing them - we're trying to determine their cash position.
