Note, once the projectile leave the muzzle of the cannon there is no further acceleration due to propulsion gasses - literally the only forces acting on it are viscous drag as a result of its wind speed and mg as a result of gravitational acceleration. In the z axis (direction of gravity) both the dropped cannonball and the fired one start with 0 z velocity and accelerate at g (9,81m/s^2 give or take). x/y vel will not effect the time taken to reach the ground.
That said. only an idiot will fire a cannon (or any firearm for that matter) purely horizontally for exactly this reason. That's why your rear sight is adjustable for elevation in the first place - it alters the angle with respect to horizontal that you fire to increase flight time (and as a result range) by making the bullet fly parabolically rather than horizontally.

Well it looks like I was wrong.
Cliffs: Time in the air of projectile fired horizontally from height is only affected by vertical component of velocity, which is gravity in both fired and dropped cases.
Initial horizontal projectile speed does not matter.
Hence dropped and fired cannonball will hit the ground at same time.

Many people do not understand gravity. They think gravity pulls you down. But that is far from the truth. Einstein's theory of relativity shows that its time that pulls you down. The more near you are at the core of earth the fastger time goes by. Which means if you jump up you go up because time is slower and you drop down because the time at your feet is faster and it is pulling you down. That's because every matter is moving into the future at different speeds.
Everything I post is trash.
