They aren't going to buy **** from the store. The authoritarian moderators, not all, but enough to get most long-time users banned for BS reasons, sparking regular mass exoduses to alternative forums, that didn't help either.

Honestly, I do think it comes down to the moderation. People who actually lift, they tend to have thicker skin, they can take a joke, they don't get triggered over every little thing, they scoff at ****'ing out every other word. This place gravitated to a more controlled, less free politically correct "safe space" zone, regulars were forced out and an influx of pathetic soy non-lifters who used to get run out happened. In the older days, pansies would be ostracized, negged to oblivion and would eventually cry and leave. In 2018, they run the show. If anyone scoffs them, they're banned and now there are enough of them that they are the majority.

What is worse, the "solution" to the problem will be, as it always is: MORE safe-space, MORE politically correct nonsense and MORE authoritarianism/banning/censoring. Wonder how that'll work out for their sales #s (hint: it's time to take out some puts on BB.com)

Edit: yeah, some of the drop is likely due to Amazon competition and they probably should have put more effort into their clothing line, but at the end of the day, when you make a benign safe-space censor zone and run off regulars, who ****ing lifted, to pave the way for limp-wristed genZ dickless *******s, you reap what you sow.

Use to buy a ton from here but I am sick of all these *sales* that are the same big 5 brands that pay hundreds of thousands to be listed as a *sale* its just the same crap over and over.

This was inevitable, and other companies that sell supplements will follow.

- there has been nothing new in years supplement wise. Everyone has a protein, BCAA, preworkout ect. All Preworkouts are extremely similar with most containing a select 3-5 ingredients and then they have some other ones in to make it "unique". Most of them do not contain efficacious doses of the raw materials.

- To follow point 1, since the pro-hormone ban there really has not been anything effective on the market.

- People are getting educated and realizing most supplements are a waste of money. Staples like Multi, Fish Oil, Joint stuff can be purchased anywhere.

- Amazon is destroying everyone.

- Don't know if this is true or not, but I heard BB.com now charges for programs and app downloads? If that's correct, then that is a huge error on their part. That information has been free since the beginning. You can't just start charging for something that was free and expect people to accept it.

The industry has definitely peaked IMO, not just bb.com, but supplement industry in general. Unless there is some kind of innovation it will continue a downslide.

This. Fuking lol. I’ve learned in this thread mods are in charge of coding the forums and web development, marketing plans and sales goals.

It’s a lot harder job than I thought.

This. I understand the legal reasons they ban gear discussion and can't sell stuff that's truly gray-market anymore. But FFS, Mesomorph had to be the most popular PWO on the planet for a solid year, and you could buy it literally anywhere but here.

I seriously doubt their drop in sales has been because they aren't selling enough CLA and test boosters. Every bro I know still takes PWO and buys protein.

Dam you amazon, with your free shipping and competitive pricing. As was mentioned also the old layout of the store here was much smoother than the current. Hopefully they don't cut the forums first since they have obvious contempt for them, can't even really find them off the main site.

Never know though sales may bounce back, as with any market there's fluctuations.

Bodybuilding.com had a gimmick with the misc, it could of capitlized on that and grew the community, similar to a popular gaming stream. The thing is people are always out for the best deal unless it's supporting something they like in which case they'll throw money at it regardless of the competition.

Bodybuilding went the other route and tried to approach it like a brick and mortar store over a virtual community of like minded people. When you go that route nothing is personal anymore, they aren't getting the absolute best deal then they will go somewhere else (amazon).

Over the top censorship and the slow but thorough eradication of the misc community definately played a hand in this, the misc at one time made up 80% + of the new threads started on this forum, the pages used to move lightening fast only rivaled by other legendary communities. Now not so much, hours can pass and you'll be lucky to see a single new page.

The lesson here is: Sometimes it's better to make things personal, to get people involved and have a stake in it (Their community).

Hopefully this will open doors to other up and coming fitness communities with less censorship the second coming of misc.

They did it to themselves
Pretty much.

I've been placing orders since 2004, forum member since 2005. It used to be cheap and you'd get all sorts of random samples in with your order. I'd write down the ones I liked and then buy them the next time I ordered. Then the shipping charges went through the roof and the selection went down and prices up. Eh, started placing orders less and less. They sent me a bunch of free stuff in Iraq and then I thought fck it and bought 200-300 dollars worth of stuff to show my loyalty. Then the prices went up even further, shipping was garbage and I finally had enough. Haven't placed an order here in probably a year and a half. I used to buy from here every 3 months or so, especially protein.

We'll see what happens, might be the end of an era though.

At the same time, the misc gave bb.com national news attention for all the wrong reason a few times. CJ killing himself while being egged on by posters (including a mod), supreme gentleman that we shall not mention and then of course the Angie Varona thing even though she's a loser anyway.

These sorts of things draw unwanted attention. The management was trying to do damage control and went overboard.
