Depends on what kind of a dent that purchase will put in his net wealth after any tax benefits he might get.

If he can comfortably afford it then he’s not an idiot, you’re just a jelly ****getto.

I got a 62k msrp ford for 52k in 2014, I was not happy with the dealer, the truck is a beast though, did he get the ecoboost?

Next time I buy a truck I want to somehow order from the factory and circumvent the stealership. They couldn't even fill it up with gas without scratching it...

You must be unaware of how business write-offs work. New vehicles will also function as promised for free for however long the warranty is good for as long as you don't do anything stupid.

Not to mention 2018s all get the 10 speed tranny depending on what he got. Assuming at least a 250 with that price point.

I’m aware of that.

But you ignore any utility some people might get out of owning a nice, new vehicle. For some, this percieved benefit outweighs the additional cost.

And that’s before you take into account any tax benefits...

Why does it need to be an investment? Why cant a person buy something solely for the pure fun and joy of owning their purchase. I never understood this concept.

If you make enough you'd understand. I have 2 vehicles normally insured all year. It blows the minds of some people but I make the money to do it easily. Brb take the beater to work, maybe I'll take my pimpin' truck, you say I'm wasting money, I think its money well spent, plus I'm not in debt over it except for mortgage which everyone has.

I'm not trying to brag. Just accept some people have large amounts of disposable income?

Found On Road Dead!- Ford

Q: Why Pokemon Go a lifesaver? A: Because it gives Ford owners something to do while they walk home.

Q: How do you double the value of a Ford Focus? A: Full the tank with petrol.

I'm coming from the perspective of, as long as I'm a wagecel and not financially independent, I want to put all my money toward that goal instead of a pimpin' truck. Call it cope or envy or whatever, but that's just where I'm at.

Maybe they want to have something they enjoy driving. Turn what would normally be a miserable commute or just going from point A to point B to something that's fun/that you enjoy doing.

Regardless of how hard you work, save and invest. You are likely going to be a wagecel until your at least 40. You've got to live a little in the process.

For some people dropping 60K on a vehicle isn't going to set back their retirement that much.

A vehicle isn't even close to being the worst investment you can make. Sure, it's a depreciating asset but it at least it holds some value. People take expensive cruises and vacations which hold absolutely no resale value. If you're going to look at every single think you spend money on as an investment, it should be easy for you to spot worse "investments" than vehicles.
