In the SAS (dunno about the seals). They will push every candidate till they break. That's the point. It's not about when they physically give. It's about when they are physically broken how long can they mentally keep their fortitude. Which is actually why it tends to be guys a little on the smaller side than expected.

Yeah I'm pretty sure(although maybe debatable), that the SAS has the most brutal training in the entire world.

Also... just lol @ the retards ITT who aren't trolling and legitimately think they'd last a week.

You really, really, really overestimate the physical aspect ofinitialSOF trainingand selection. I can't speak for BUD/S, but week 1 SFAS is generally regarded as ridiculous; working out for fun and running in the desert for 9 months made it seem decently easy. I saw more guys tap out because they didn't have heart than because they didn't have heart rather than physical capability. Things like land nav claim more candidates. I imagine it is the same with BUD/S.

They have 6 months of training before they can even call themselves SEALs. It likely isn't a cake walk, and their standard training in unit is likely as hard as hell week. It won't seem like it after all they've been through, though.

conversely if u watch 2 weeks in hell some brehs show up to a selection complete dad-body. imagine attempting a hard selection without any preparation, delusional .

Yeah getting injured would be a ****ty way to go out. I trained with a guy in the Air Force who was a CCT wash-out. He was in the pipeline for more than a year with nagging injuries so they eventually just released him. He went from potentially being a part of AFSOC to checking IDs at gate, sad.

I'd be surprised if there hadn't been at least one SEAL here.

I know there have been a few SF guys here in the past.

It is a lot about mental toughness, but luck and health is a HUGE part that washes out a ton of people.

Twisted ankle, knee, flu... You are done.

Based on the few people I know that made it through other tier 1 schools there are a lot of people that just get hit by bad luck and wash out that way. Coming in fully rested and healthy would give a big jump in probability of making it. Still not good, but you get the idea.

Also amazed at all of the "They are all bad asses so no one here could do it" a lot of people here have been incredibly disciplined athletic freaks at one time in their life. No real reason to think that their success rate wouldn't be similar to the 1/4 rate. (With swimming being the wild card. Not many people can swim well enough, but that can be taught relatively easy)

Yep... In a lot of ways dad bod helps. Every single one of those "Dad bods" have made it through the buds admission requirements and is likely competitive standard for most things.

Having that extra energy store helps a lot. Of course we have a lot of buds experts here so I am sure they knew that.

What makes you say that? Legit...

I know several people that went to tier 1 schools from various branches. Almost all were athletic freaks and mentally disciplined. I would say at least half failed due to medical reasons. Granted we don't know how many would have made it if they didn't get hurt/sick, but you get the idea.

I'll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals, and I've been involved in numerous secret raids on Al-Quaeda, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in gorilla warfare and I'm the top sniper in the entire US armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the **** out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my ****ing words. You think you can get away with saying that **** to me over the Internet? Think again, ****er. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You're ****ing dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that's just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States Marine Corps and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little ****. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little "clever" comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your ****ing tongue. But you couldn't, you didn't, and now you're paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will **** fury all over you and you will drown in it. You're ****ing dead, kiddo.

Me? Nope. I ran for the first time last week in 3 years and couldn't make a half mile at a 8min pace. Started running every other day though cuz I think it's embarassing to not be able to run a mile nonstop.

One friend I have could, and did though. He was insane. 5ft8? 140(in hs as a senior), benching 225 for reps, one handed pullups, and ran half marathons breathing through his nose forfun. He was a physical monster and was hyper-military his entire life. He wanted to be a navy seal since I first met him in middle school. Wasnt surprised whatsoever when he got in

5'11", 205.

My brother knows a bunch of SEALs (he was stationed up in Virginia for a while), and they're usually the smaller guys. My dad was a Ranger, he was 5'8", 165 at his peak. My cousin is in Ranger school, gets 300 on his PT tests, 5'10", 180 maybe. Muscles got nothing to do with it.

Not offended whatsoever. When I was in high school I took part in some Navy fitness assessment, and they ran us through some of the BUDs drills. Nearly impossible stuff, but there were a few of us who got invited to apply after graduation. I'd give my 30 year old self (my peak physical achievement) about a 10% chance to make it through. As stated, now? 10 minutes, maybe 20.

the SAS, SBS and SASR do have the hardest training and selection of any sf unit.

More people have been killed during training in those by units than war since ww2. That just shows you how insanely hard the training is that they make the SEALs look inferior by comparison.

There was a guy named vitamin C a while back who did. He even documented his journey to being a seal and updated the thread throughout BUDS. i reached out to him later on and he did make it through seal qualification training and got on a seal team.

Also got to meet david goggins at the patriot tour with marcus luttrell, taya kyle and other guys.

He went theough pararescue indoc twice before getting booted for a blood condition, went on to be tacp. then did the whole seal thing everyone knows about after he got really fat... he said he lost 100+ lbs in a few months to be a seal after he stuck his sprayer into a hole working for ecolab and a bunch of roaches fell onto him.
