Some people who wash their hands after touching herpes still get herpetic whitlow. Look it up.

You basically take the risk (small risk in some cases) of getting herpes every time you touch or come into contact with another human’s skin.

Why so many people have HSV-1.

Only kissless virgins who hate human contact are totally safe from all forms of herpes. And people who have monogamous sex with a clean partner.

I get an STD test a few times a year and even though I always use protection, totally shocked when HSV-1 comes up negative every time. Seems like it is inevitable.

Lmao at guys in here who have no idea how wide-spread herpes is.

waay over 50% of the population have it. I'm talking about first-world countries.

Most have it in a dormant state. Some might never realize they have it. You can test negative on herpes for months because you haven't built enough antibodies for it yet.
Even in dead skin cells and without an outbreak, herpes can be transferred.

Worst case, you get your girl tested, all negative, and you have a cold sore a few months into the relationship.
Topical STD tests don't even test for herpes because you'd have to draw blood for that.

There's no way around it. Statistically, chances are most of you guys have herpes already.

Side note, a condom does reduce your risk of HSV-2, even if it doesn’t totally eliminate the risk. So don’t stop wearing condoms. Since you can get HSV-1 from kissing, touching skin, etc., very easy to get.

I think it might be possible to get it that way but only if someone with herpes fingers him/herself and then touches your private areas.

not sure about the accuracy of that. herpes prefers moist areas. however it is a skin disease. i assume soaps have antiviral capacities but not sure.

In a way it does but during sex fluids do touch the body. so the best thing is condom use and avoiding sex during outbreaks. thankfully my outbreaks don't turn into sores.

Herpes doesn’t spread when dormant but does spread during the outbreak and shedding phase.

The shedding phase I believe is invisible (getting ready to outbreak) so you can’t tell with your eyes if the person is dormant or shedding.

true enough however I think test would show herpes unless the virus is deeply in remission. My outbreak took 3 years to show up. N yes blood tests are the best way to test for that. Hsv 1 is way more common than hsv 2 which is genital herpes. hsv 2 isn't that common at all. I've heard of cases where persons have herpes but test negative. This is when the virus is in its remission stage and during that stage transmission to others is remarkably low even unprotected. but when an outbreak is about to start then the virus gets super active.

But the thing is how can one really tell when its dormant? stress can force the virus out of dormancy. Also the shedding phase is basically invisible there's no way to know. However persons who have herpes and stress should be extra careful.

I agree kissing especially during an outbreak (assuming the person knows they have an outbreak) is risky. Sharing utensils is not recommended as well, because I wouldnt know if I have an outbreak going on. My outbreaks tend to be almost unnoticeable.

Well most of the time, the virus is in remission.. so there's that.

You can transfer HSV-1 to the genitals just as easily mate. While most genital herpes is HSV-2, HSV-1 can get there as well. A blowjob from a girl who is infected with HSV-1, even without an outbreak, say during a shedding phase, will infect your genitalia with HSV-1.

Yep, so 50-80% of people can potentially transfer their oral herpes to your dick/vagina during oral even with no visible sores.

And girls always act surprised when I whip out my oral condoms.

I don’t gamble with those odds. Everything gets wrapped if it isn’t a long-term, monogamous relationship.

A friend of a friend got herpes on her vagina from her ex going down on her. Doesn't really matter which one it is, when you get painful sores and have to tell every potential partner for the rest of your life. Scary AF! It's why I'm celibate. No fuking thx Jeffrey!

I mean, yeah, you can’t stop people from cheating on you. All life has risk. Unless you want to be a nun or a monk, gotta draw the line somewhere and let the chips fall where they may. I hope I end up with someone I can trust eventually and we can have all the sex we want with no fear of permanent STD’s. Hopefully no cheating happens.

But until that day, using condoms, although not 100% effective, is way safer than raw-dogging complete strangers
