Been living in Mexico for the past year.............

pros:
-very free
-really cheap beach front rent
-super cheap food
-easy access to "fun" stuff
-SUPER rich in culture
-quasi hawt chicks want you if you have green or blue eyes
-beautiful beaches (west coast anyway)
-laid back culture
-funny to just go walk around or take a bus to the next town

cons:
-The first 3-6 months are very hard if you don't speak much Spanish
-sometimes the locals assume you are just an average spoiled gringo
-if you are a spoiled gringo, the minimalist-type culture can be difficult
-You can't cause problems b/c you never know who you're talking to and what connections they have
ninja edit:
-can't drink the tap water
-raw sewage in the streets after a big rain is common

other than that it's amazing and I love it

Ive always enjoyed your posts and mired your avi. That said thats not enough sample size of time. If you stay there long enough something very bad will eventually happen. If youre lucky someone will just pickpocket your wallet or steal your car. If not..

Lol, walking around Mexico as a white guy is like walking with a giant sign that says “Please kidnap me and extort my American family for money”

Nice, you should be OK there. If you ever get a chance make it out to Pachuca Hidalgo, lots of stuff to do out there.

5 million Americans & Canadians live in Mexico. It's the top retirement destination for people that want to retire overseas.

OP, I recently visited Colombia & Mexico City and am trying to make the necessary steps in order to comfortably move to Latin America full time. Especially after having met so many Irish, English & American expats living in those places.

1) What do you do for income?
2) What was the residency/visa process like?
3) How did you find an apartment/residence?
4) How many sloots ya banged?
5) Any regrets? Namely, anything you wish you'd done differently?

I would happily move to Guadalajara, Monterrey, Oaxaca, and even District Federal (Mexico City). Give us your insight brah

Free as fuk cuz... so laid back, so calm, cool, and collected place.

j/k sounds like you're still in the honeymoon phase of the new location. Relocated for work or just trying out new surroundings?

When I went to Mexico around 8-9 years ago in some downtown area there would literally be girls walking around in a circle to get confetti thrown at them and having guys come up to them and give them roses. It was the most bizarre thing looking back.
