Seems like a strange thing to do. Chicago police department not busy enough?

Seems like a rather efficient way to catch some criminals tbh. Much less man hours and effort than watching tapes and conducting interviews that lead to a dead end. Which leads me to my next point....

you think the people likely to steal from this van are first time offenders? Law abiding citizens? Did you even watch the video? They were hoping to lure in the thieves that were stealing ammunition from the railroad nearby, I doubt these are your law biding, good samaritans. Where do you think this stolen ammunition is going?

You couldn't pay me enough to try and police these neighborhoods like Englewood. It's a lost cause.

There are two methods of policing.

1. Reactive. Which means you do nothing until someone commits a crime. Then you investigate, attempt to identify, and attempt to apprehend the suspect. In a case of theft its 50-50 whether the property is recovered.


2. Proactive. Which means you identify a problem crime. Identify an area where its repeatedly occurring. Then make an effort to catch people in the act of committing that crime.








Guarantee you if they went through the trouble/effort of doing a bait truck operation they've had at least 25K+ worth of property/merchandise stolen in this manner or a similar manner, routinely and it prompted a more in-depth strategy instead of just saying fukk it and documenting these incidents over and over again.

Lold at sayin they arrested people for wanting shoes. They arrested people forstealingshoes. Why should we care who put the truck there? I’d much rather capture the kind of people who will seize an opportunity to steal before they get that opportunity against an innocent civilian. How far does the victim mentality go? “Well yeah I stole that guy’s bike but he shouldn’t have just left it outside he store to tempt me”. That’s just weak as hell. lmfao exactly, idiot socialists who don't know how to effectively manage funds, nike shoes payed for by tax dollars lmfao. Resources are scarce, rather than spending funds to ruin lives and catch people (There will always be people willing to steal in poor communities), funds should be spent on building more educated communities.

You don't combat crime through reactionary solutions- this is idiotic, same with drug use. You can only combat crime (like drug use) through education and changes to the enviroment.

You can either attempt to proactively stop crime through changing environments/education or waste money on repeatedly arresting repeat-offenders who will dig themselves deeper and do commit crazier acts as their record builds.

It's easy to say theyre piece of **** thieves but when you're struggling and poor worrying about money and how you're going to eat and pay the bills and someone parks that with Christian leboutin shoes in them, thats going to be a very real hard to resist temptation.

Walking off with 3 or 4 boxes probably could give these people financial peace of mind for like a month or two

Entrapment is when police come up with a plan and then encourage someone to break the law using the plan they came up with.

Leaving a truck is not entrapment as police did not go and tell people to steal.
