Sorry to hear brah, but here is some advice you should take away from this for next time: don't get married (unless she's rich). It is simply not a sound investment anymore.
How dare you!

Don't let yourself get attached to anything you are not willing to walk out on in 30 seconds flat if you feel the heat around the corner.

Interesting (not that she cheated, the NC laws). Here infidelity has no bearing on child support. True 50/50 does, though, that would mean no C/S.

Sorry to hear, though, but if she cheated, you're better off. Divorce isn't a life ender, BTDT.

Been through it brah, with 2 kids and a 1M/yr business.

I know you're not asking for everyone's advice here, but ima give you what I wish I knew going in anyway:
- divorce is a legal fight. DO NOT go into this lazy and think that you're just going to be handed 'no alimony' and '50/50 kids'. ded srs, and take that seriously if you value time with your son.
- make sure you know every single thing about your assets, financials, etc. Don't go making any big sales/purchases, you'll end up owing her for it.
- if any chick publicly says "PLEASE let me know if you need anything" - the answer is NO you do not need anything, but thank you. Divorce turns many women into wicked creatures and she'll look for any evidence of you doing the same or having done so in the past... and then use it against you. Especially if she cheated, they will look for reasons to say that you have been doing the same, did the same, are emotionally absent in the marriage, etc etc.

The biggest thing here is you thinking that her cheating means you're off the hook for anything. Do not be so dumb to think that is the case, and your lawyer should advise you well on that, but be clear to your lawyer what your priorities are and that you want to protect them.

No, I'm not a lawyer, but I learned much more than I ever wanted to about the divorce process. As chit as it is, and whatever your feelings are for your wife at this point - protect and defend yourself fully. You're going to have to give 100% in order to get 50%, courts protect mothers.

Other chit aside, actual 50/50 for kids is hard. When he's in school (or if already is), going home to different households during the week is very difficult. Weekends are easier to alternate, but everything else can be a mess.

Sorry to hear that man, even more sorry a kid has to pay the price for it now. Seems like military marriages never work out, dunno if she was going behind your back while overseas or not.

I use to have a buddy who was in the military and while he was gone his girl would just go crazy slooting it up. Started insinuating to me one time while I was at a friends house and while he was overseas basically she wanted to give me head out of nowhere but I shut that down real quick, would never do that to a bro. Partly by me word got back to him about what was going down while he was gone and eventually they split. Sad part is he knew about it for awhile before they finally did though.

But brah just remember never chit talk about her to your kid. That's one of the worse thing parents can do after a divorce is talk bad about the other parent to the child and make them pick sides.

Good info and advice. I always ask this question - looking back, is there any way you could've known the marriage wasn't going to work out? Any flags etc. that you ignored?

I'm no lawyer but I do watch Suits.

Last episode Harvey was asked to represent his brother in his divorce after his wife found out he was gambling again.

OP... drag her through the ****ing mud if you can. Think of any instances that may lead the judge to believe you're a more stable parent. You'd have to have unbiased concrete evidence. Otherwise, disregard.

Dude is getting exactly what he deserves.... I don't feel the need to coddle a grown man, especially one who quickly dismissed all advice because he thinks he knows all.

Ban bet.... in 6 months, I bet OP has written his first check.
Lol nice try. I'm not taking that bet because I never once disagreed that he wouldn't have to pay. You're still clearly missing the point.

You're trying to help the dude by talking down on him and telling him how to manage his life while he's going through some serious life-altering chit? If that's your idea of help, please keep it far away from me and anyone I care about.

Everyone in here is talking about hoping OP has a good support system, or to PM him if he wants to vent, and here you are telling him he's a fukin idiot for not wallowing in his despair.

It has nothing to do with what he will or won't owe, and everything to do with you being so incapable of empathy that you choose what's arguably one of the worst times in his life to attack him.

Ban bet...in 6 months, you're still just as much of a kunt as you are today

for the record...here's your "help"

Just lol if you think that 3k a month doesn't go towards momma's lifestyle.

Lol @ your low IQ and your bitch ****ing her manager at the currency exchange.

I'll wait for the update.
yeah real helpful lmao. and those are just your replies to OP.

lmao worst part is you're married and doing this. i could understand if you were FA or just single and bitter/jaded. But to be a part of this institution, and still be chitting on someone else suffering through something you may very well go through yourself? Laughable and embarassing tbh.

Cheating with the coworker...that kinda chit would motivate me to lifemaxx hard.

Apparently, it doesn't:

"In North Carolina, there is a strong presumption that the assets acquired during the marriage should be divided equally (50-50) among the spouses. ...However, marital misconduct is not a factor which is to be considered in determining equitable distribution."
