I kinda agree tbh, there is definitely a double standard there in general. Imagine a woman was hitting on you, and grabbed your ass at a conference and she persisted after you said stop. I'm not really convinced it would get the same level of backlash. People would look at her like a drunken slut, but that might be about it.

I think the main reason for the double standard is the physical strength difference, and potential for rape.

Exactly. And it's just another example of how men and women aren't equal and aren't treated equally either. A man should know better because he can actually rape a woman. Nobody takes women seriously when it comes to them being sloppy, inappropriate and sexually harassing. They're just annoying but very rarely an actual threat.

I had replied in that other locked thread but I hope Alan gets a fair shake. His apology and the accounts definitely make him seem guilty, but I dislike this rampant "Guilty until proved innocent" that happens in the public sphere. I've always liked the guy when he posted here and he gives a lot of good advice. To be clear, I also didn't like what happened to Kevin Spacey or Matt Lauer and I don't like either of them.

We also need to stop viewing men as always the aggressor and women always as the victims. Women and their accusations should be given serious consideration, but we should also not instantly vilify these men. If we want women accusers to be taken seriously and thought of as credible and men to not worry about this, we need to take a look at this process and stress credible investigations and finding the truth.

We are and have been in dangerous waters. No ones life should be ruined over accusations. Everyone deserves due process, even if they seem guilty.

I find it funny the media had a chitfit about VP Pence only having dinner with his wife and I don't blame him one bit.

The funny part is, I think, many looking at rapes and their statistics find that many rapes of men occur. The stats are all over the place, but definitely has that double standard as you mention.

There's also seems to be this "prove it" when a man makes an accusation versus "you poor thing, lets get that monster" when a woman does.
